Wordle 213 5/6 ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 I had eliminated so many letters that once I stumbled onto "pro" there was almost no other possibility.

i learned something new about wordle while finishing today's puzzle. if the "word" a player enters as a guess isn't in wordle's word bank, that guess doesn't count as one of the 6 attempts. Well, no, but it also doesn't give you any information except that it can't be the answer.

how do you hide your text with the spoiler thing I see Mikegarrison responded already and here's another explanation. I do it in the BBCode workspace but you can also do it in this default "Preview" workspace. To see an example of it in writing, click on the "quote" button on this post as if you were going to respond to me, and once that window opens up, click on the BBCode button to see what it looks like. Enter what you want concealed here

Some of you may enjoy trying Absurdle if you enjoy Wordle. You can play as many times as you want in a day, and there is no limit on guesses. But there’s a catch… From the creator’s description:

But there’s a catch… From the creator’s description: Interesting idea but ultimately much more limited. You can drive the answer to certain words with your guesses. If you make the same guesses you will get the same game. I initially assumed that it would simplistically try to give you as few hits as possible, but that's not what it does. Instead it attempts to keep its word list as big as possible, even if that means giving you a hit.

I just think it’s a clever spin on something that has turned into a bit of a craze. I liked tinkering around with different combinations and types of guesses. Fewer vowels, fewer consonants, double letters, etc. It becomes much less interesting if you guess the same words every round, naturally. A friend shared a variation of Wordle with me called Byrdle, which is the same but with a smaller set of vocabulary—words only related to choral music. I didn’t find that variation as interesting.

I saw that somebody who had released (and then essentially abandoned) an app in Apple's store five years ago called "wordle", now has suddenly had a massive number of downloads, even though it is not the same game. The guy said he was donating his unexpected windfall income to charity, because he didn't want to cash in on somebody else's game just because they happened to share the same name.

Wordle 214 5/6
⬜⬜🟨⬜🟩 🟨⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟨⬜🟩🟩⬜ ⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
Line 4 was completely unnecessary, because I forgot about a yellow letter I had already found. Once I remembered I had that letter, the answer was pretty obvious. In fact, I had used it as the first letter in line 2, so I even knew for sure it was the second letter.

But there’s a catch… From the creator’s description: Try this Batman-themed one: JOKER BATTY ROBIN CRIME CAVES GUANO LEGAL PUNCH Then solve. (Note, I ended up with a two-word pair that I tested by guessing one, then the other, erasing the last two guesses, and guessing in the opposite order. Of course based on the rules it didn't matter which one I guessed first, because always the answer would be the other one.)
