Inter Milan v. Liverpool should be a good one. Inter milan is second in serie a with 16 wins, 6 draws and only 2 losses. Inter also has a goal differential of plus 35.

I don't remember this, no. I don't really follow this sport. But I'm somewhat aware of it, just like I didn't watch any NFL this year but I'm aware that the Rams just beat the Bengals. You know what would work? Just flip a coin. If the outcome is tied after two games, just flip a coin. That way there is no advantage for either team. And both teams have an incentive to win it on the field rather than accept a 50/50 chance of getting knocked out because of a coin. When one team knows its inferior, they would play for the coin flip because 50/50 would be a better chance than playing an open match. The same way some teams now play for penalties in other competitions. It would likely become the default strategy for underdogs

Ahem... they actually did this decades ago! and of course it was considered as a total injustice, then they introduced the penalty kick shoutout right after the 90 minutes, and it was still rude, so the extra 2x15 minutes were introduced, and then the away goals rule to avoid those OTs, cos' teams also had to play their local leagues just 2 or 3 days after the wednesday thrill. Go back to the coin flip. If you played 180 minutes and came to a tie, then it's clearly not an injustice whichever team gets knocked out. It’s actually 120 mn, not more: 90 (2x45) + 30 extra time (2x15). Then if it’s still a tie —> penalty kick shootout, it’s fair, no coin flip or wheel of fortune or russian roulette. I know it’s something americans can’t understand, it’s not their sport DNA: you want a score winner whatsoever, that’s why soccer and rugby never went popular, at least soccer in men’s sports, cos’ women seems to be ok with the idea of a tied match. As far as I know, the NFL introduced the sudden death in extra time in the 70’s to prevent tied games. It’s been in soccer for some time, France won the 2000’s European Championship vs Italy with David Trezeguet golden goal, but that rule has been deleted since, it was considered to … rude still: So they came back to the penalty kick shootout and all its drama (France vs West Germany World Cup 1982 semi final, Brazil vs Italy 1990 World Cup final, France vs Italy 2006 World Cup final, etc…) At least, the penalty kick shootout brings another concept: the team with the best mental strength wins at the very end, mostly thanks to its goalkeeper. That’s the goalkeepers momentum. It’s the ultimate emotional rollercoaster.

Did anyone catch the match between Chelsea and Lille? Thought about it but ultimately skipped it. One of the best English teams against a middle of the pack French team? Seemed like a mismatch on paper. Sure enough Chelsea won 2-0.
Today it's atletico Madrid hosting Manchester United. That looks like it could go either way.

One the richest team in the world paying few taxes VS one of the poorest in the UCL. Guess what happens when the poorest makes some success by winning its national league ? looting: all the best LOSC players are gone, it's a miracle they even went through the preliminary stages.
France is too much honest to win anything anymore: no doping, pay your taxes, be happy with that.
The PSG has been sold in 2011 to a bunch of overpowered and fortunate oil qatari family members, who were already corrupting the FIFA and Platini to get the World Cup in Qatar this year. The PSG is their advertising showcase, a PR company, when the World Cup will end, they'll sold it.
This is the only way to win today in the modern capitalist world: tax evasion + corruption + doping. Bernard Tapie (RIP) knew that in 1993, he corrupted some Valenciennes players to be sure to win the french league for Olympique de Marseille before the UCL fnal vs AC Milan: OM-VA on 20th of may, OM-AC Milan on 26th. We all know what happened next: the OM relegation, Tapie put in jail.

Hillsborough was the tragic result of a flawed stadium design and terrible decisions made by local officials that day, but there was no intentional malice.

Seattle Sounders play UNAM for the Concacaf Champions League Final. First leg tonight, second next Wednesday. The Sounders currently sit at 11th out of 14 teams in the MLS West, yet they are playing for a Continental Championship. Gotta love Champions League.
