not really following this team but im IN the #GabbyWadenHive welcome to the club, but you should start following this team too🫣 two straight weeks represented in the SEC players of the week (offensive player of week 1, Sania Petties. setter of week 1, Gabby Coulter. defensive player of week 2, Lilly Gunter) so there’s more than just the MSST GOAT Gabby Waden

First double double for my girl gabby, I could cry. The State fans in here know how bad I wanted her to play six rotations. I knew she could do it! Idc if it’s just against Milwaukee😠did she get AA honors last season? She’s so good. Amazing to watch. Great composure. Fantastic leader. honorable mention, as she didn’t play six rotations. that always hurts

Darty needs to look herself in the mirror after this Houston match. She is notoriously horrible at in game adjustments and coaching. Great recruiter, and I’m sure she’s a great coach/developer in practice, but her in game adjustments have BEEN bad. What in the WORLD is the logic of DSing your best player with a DS that you can’t put in serve receive. That’s purely idiotic. Not to mention the entire setting situation. UGH.

Waden is capable of much more offense and probably a similar level of defense in the backrow than Shania so why is Gabby being DS’d instead of ShaniaðŸ˜

Anyone care to elaborate what happened tonight? Was only able to watch the 5th set and this team didn’t look like contenders for the SEC championship to me…also don’t know much about VB but why in the world wouldn’t you have your most offensive player at LF from the beginning of the 5th.

Ugh

It was all a dream....
According to the Rich Kern site: 9/28/2022 A Mississippi State** def. Auburn 25-23, 25-23, 28-26 I even refreshed the page to make sure I was reading that right.
I don't know how Kern's site gets it's data to report, but I assumed it was reported by schools, either the coaches or SIDs. Makes me wonder if any other scores are complete nonsense too.

HAIL STATE I had to start with that after all the cussing I did yesterday at the game. I will say this, Auburn is a much better team than I thought. They have the capability to put pressure at the net. They found the block and become dominate with it. #3 Anderson is so athletic and fun to watch. She seemingly couldn’t be stopped. Their libero was OUTSTANDING as well. Congrats to them on a hard fought win.
As for my Bulldogs….this is the 1st time in my 5 years of being a volleyball parent that we’ve lost to them. It does not feel good. State Volleyball did not show up last night. We are much better, and have competed much better against harder teams this year, than what was done last night. It was hard to watch and I questioned QUITE A FEW things. I can’t and won’t go into full detail because I don’t want to give away all our internal secrets. I’ll leave you with 3 comments though.
1) Our middles have the highest hitting percentages on the team yet while in the game they barely get set. WE HAVE TO STOP TALKING ABOUT GETTING THEM THE BALL AND SETTING THEM MORE AND #$&+%@ DO IT!!! Talk is cheap and our outsides need some relief. 2) The season is early and the worry of being failures is not settling in on State fans. ALL SEC top teams have a horrible loss they want to forget about (except for maybe LSU). I’m looking to see how we adjust against a strong Arkansas team with a very quick turn around. 3) BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK. We can’t defensively block balls and it is hurting us. 1 person can’t be responsible for being a part of about 80% of the season blocks. We need more across the net. Good touches to slow the ball will help also. Darty has to recruit some players capable of this because after this year that’s going to be a problem. Defense wins game is more than a football term.
Hail State

I have no expectations for the team this year… what’s even the projected lineup?
Myrick/Schmidt Gonzales/Walk Oerther/Shackleford (Fortin/Agee or Sharkey? on a 6-2) Neal??

was going through my created threads and stumbled across this again… they won’t be Gabby Waden level again but they could be competitive this season
Karli Schmidt/Kailin Newsome (SELU transfer) Rebecca Walk/Sanaa Williams Cecilia Harness (UNT transfer)/Amina Shackleford (DS Payton Woods) Mary Neal
or they could go a 6-2 with Woods hitting somewhere but I’m not sure she could be a competitive hitter at the SEC level. she’s listed as an OH/DS on the roster so I have a feeling as of now she’s slotted as a DS

At Setter, Harness is a solid veteran (undersized but athletic) that I think will play a significant role, but I’d be surprised if she’d be running a 5-1 in the SEC. Her size and past collegiate experience is as a setter in a 6-2. That would be my expectation. Erin Kline who got some playing time last year as a freshman and incoming freshman Hanson from Houston Skyline would the candidates as the additional starter in a 6-2 at setter. If the Dawgs end up running a 5-1, I think it would because Kline stepped into the role and took over the spot. Darty has improved The OH position on the squad courtesy of the portal. Expect production there to improve significantly over last year. Newsome (6 ro) and Schmidt should have good seasons for the Dawgs. Woods is good depth. Shackelford will be huge for this squad I legit think she has the potential to have an all conference type season. She’s shows big time leadership on and off the court and I think a more balanced offensive attack will allow for her to get more one on one matchups this season. It wouldn’t surprise me if Walk is used in a role very similar to Jessica Demps a couple of years back when the squad made the NCAA Tournament. Walk is really good offensively off one foot and could play right side in a 6-2 like Demps did. Has dealt with some injuries that may limit her lateral movement as a true middle. Williams and Smith in the Middle would be my expectation. Neal at Libero is solid and I think there maybe a freshman (Yates) that pushes for PT as a DS/L. Also wouldn’t be surprised if there is a late addition or two in the next portal window. Should be a fun and more competitive season for the Dawgs!! was going through my created threads and stumbled across this again… they won’t be Gabby Waden level again but they could be competitive this season Karli Schmidt/Kailin Newsome (SELU transfer) Rebecca Walk/Sanaa Williams Cecilia Harness (UNT transfer)/Amina Shackleford (DS Payton Woods) Mary Neal or they could go a 6-2 with Woods hitting somewhere but I’m not sure she could be a competitive hitter at the SEC level. she’s listed as an OH/DS on the roster so I have a feeling as of now she’s slotted as a DS
