Rangers up 2 games on New Jersey with a 5-1 win. Looks like tarasenko and Patrick Kane may help deliver a title to New York. Okay it's a bit early but have to believe that is the expectation. Kane looks like he still has a lot left in the tank. One of the greatest American born players ever. imo The Hockey Writers recently put out a list on this subject, and they ranked Kane third. The full top 10: 1. Chris Chelios 2. Mike Modano 3. Patrick Kane 4. Cammi Granato 5. Brian Leetch 6. Neal Broten 7. Pat LaFontaine 8. Jonathan Quick 9. Hobey Baker 10. Auston Matthews They gave honorable mention to Keith Tkachuk and Phil Housley and decided that Brett Hull (who might be No. 1 if included) doesn't really qualify.

The omission of Hull is unfortunate, he is a dual citizen but always played for USA internationally (I think). I love that Cammi Granato is fourth, I've never liked Tkachuk (It's an old Winnipeg beef), and Housley deserved better than HM (The old Jets owe him a big thanks!) Thanks for providing that list!

Hull is a tricky one. I can see both sides of it, but I would have included him on the list and probably ranked him first. I also don't think I would have put Matthews in there just yet, though he's clearly on the right trajectory. Are you a Jets fan? For some reason, I thought you were a Flyers fan.

I am a die hard FLYERS fan (sadly with them that's the only option DIE HARD) I grew up in Winnipeg so I do feel something of a connection to the Jets. I would have left out Matthews and gone Modano, Hull, Chelios.

At least Colorado is taking care of business against Seattle. I know I should root for our local team but against Colorado, no way. I said it earlier but will repeat: go avalanche.

That would just be the capper on a miserable day if Seattle wins. Rangers - nope. Jets- sorry. Lightning- too bad so sad.

Rantanen added an empty netter for Colorado. Avalanche take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Wow -- Toronto comes back from the dead 4-1 in the 3rd period to force overtime and then they win it in OT. All of Ontario is going nuts!!

Hockey (and football, and a lot of other sports) would be better if they had a rule that said that if you injure another player in a penalized contact, you are out for the entire time that the other player is out for the injury.

“A lot of other sports.”? Soccer? Basketball? I’m not convinced invoking a punishment like that would have the effect on the game that MG thinks it might.

“A lot of other sports.”? Soccer? Basketball? I’m not convinced invoking a punishment like that would have the effect on the game that MG thinks it might. I guess this is in reference to the Makar hit on McCann. That's a tough one. It was initially ruled a major, but they reduced it to a minor. I think the key issue is that the whistle didn't blow until after the hit, so it's conceivable that Makar didn't realize that the puck was out of play. I don't think the hit was that bad in a vacuum. The issue was that it was late, and I don't think McCann was expecting it because he did know the puck was out of play. But again, the whistle hadn't blown. It could be argued that Makar shouldn't see a suspension at all, and I don't think he would if McCann hadn't gotten hurt. But given the result, one game seems reasonable. If he made the hit clearly after the whistle, then the major penalty and a multi-game suspension would be appropriate.
