I wonder if this is a budgetary move. I notice Rock spent one season at Assistant Coach, and after that season was promoted to Associate Head Coach. Must be at least $30k difference in the two job title salaries. You mean Stanford cutting costs by letting Rock go? I doubt it. They are talking about expanding the beach stadium to five courts. One weird thing: at the beginning of this season, Summer Nash was listed as the assistant. Then more recently, Angela Rock is listed again. Was Nash just filling because Rock was away? Or did Nash leave and Rock is filling out the season? Maybe Angela has a head coach spot lined up? Maybe they want to convert Lauren Fendrick to the paid position, and have to go through the motions of advertising the position.

Stanford upset both GCU and Cal 4-1.
Not sure if that's enough to get them the #3 seed in the Pac-12 tournament, but maybe.

Time for Stanford to step up and defend its home courts!

do you know if they are split blocking? or is Hodel or Kriz are full time? Hodel peaked my interest last year when she had a pretty darn good Hermosa(7th) & Dubi with Hayward(5th). IF she plays the rest of the AVPs this summer, she could contend for rookie of the year.

She's got way too athletic of a block-jump to make her a defender

Talked to Angela Rock today after Stanford was eliminated. She had actually left Stanford after last season, and Summer Nash had been promoted to paid assistant. But Nash left mid-season and Angela said she "filled in".

Stanford has emerged tremendously since the programs conception.

With the upset of GCU and loss to TCU, Stanford finishes tied for 5th.
They lose Ekstrom and Kriz to graduation, but have a solid class coming in next year. Hoping they can make it to the Final Four.

Which incoming recruits have the potential to start next season? Stanford could use some true blockers to bolster the line-up. The 4 players at 4s and 5s in Gulf Shores were more defender-type players. I feel like they could all be great true defenders behind a bigger block.

I don't have any personal evaluation of their quality. But the 6-foot and taller players coming next year: Ruby Sorra (Ontario, Canada) is listed just over 6' (184 cm); I am hoping she is a starter. One of the top junior players in Canada, IIRC. Ellie Sampson (North Carolina) 6'0" ?
Clara Stowell (Manhattan Beach, CA) 6'2" - earned a CBVA AA recently at Huntington Beach
There are two more the following year listed on richkern.com
Charlotta Bell (California) 6'4" - earned a CBVA AAA rating in Santa Cruz, playing with Logan Tusher (5'11"), another Stanford recruit. Babi Gubbins (California) 6'3" - out of Mater Dei, I think she is considered a pretty strong prospect.

I did see that Sorra won a competition in Canada against Monkhouse/McBain (experienced former NCAA starters) and won a competition w/ one of the McNamara twins. Hope she can slot in right away.

You'll notice that Stanford is not a destination for portal/transfers. Academics are too big an obstacle. Even for current students, its a challenge. Lost Villapando to SC last year and losing Kriz (who I heard on TV as a bioengineering major) to who knows?

Lost Villapando to SC last year and losing Kriz (who I heard on TV as a bioengineering major) to who knows? Just to be clear: both Villapando and Kriz were "lost" to graduation. It's extremely rare for a Stanford volleyball player to leave without a degree.
