Thought LBSU would be higher. Did they lose some of their freshman talent from last year?

Hi, any indication that there will be any streaming for the upcoming tournament this week? None. Best chances to find one would be if the teams or someone (parent, friends) there is live streaming on Instagram.

1 - Glagau/Thelle 2 - Napoleon/Burton 3 - Santer/Embry 4 - Wagoner/Amiatu 5 - Maidment/Lawrenz I would switch 2 & 3, 4 & 5... for now 1 - Glagau/Thelle 2 - Santer/Embry 3 - Napoleon/Burton 4 - Maidment/Lawrenz 5 - Wagoner/Amiatu I'm very excited for this season, and seems like Silberstein is as well ( VBMagazine Article). I feel similarly to this season like I did last year, with many of the starters being senior I want them to go far and it'll be a lot different without them. The top pair of Glagau/Thelle IMO will have their great and bad moments. I personally think they are a top 10 pair, but more toward the bottom, there are a lot of teams with very good top pairs. Thelle is great but she is not Van Sickle (yet). Definitely great for her age and nice to be paired with a veteran, I think she struggled a bit in competition in the fall but is doing great as of recent. Having BVS almost felt like a guarantee win with Glagau the last two seasons so we never had to worry about that flight usually, but this year can be a toss-up for our top pair. Santer/Embry is a surprise pairing. They never really played with each other since Santer was working with Napoleon mostly. But sometimes you have to mix pairings up to find the right one. Embry is a great ball control player, plays good defense and passes well enough which gives Santer the option to option if she needs to. Embry does rely more on her shots over power but she is great at keeping the ball in play which will help. Santer is always a fun player to watch, she is definitely giving it her all and happy to be here. I'm interested to see how Napoleon/Burton does. Burton has the capability to be great for this program in the long run, I think she just needed a good defender to pair with. Putting Napoleon with her is great since Pani is a pretty good terminator for a defender and sets well. I can see them potentially struggling against taller pairs but we'll see this weekend. I really like the Lawrenz/Maidment pairing. The only pairing that really stayed together all year and I think they compliment each other very well. Lawrenz is a really good blocker and I know she has had beach experience in the past, but she passes well enough considering she was a middle indoors. Maidment is always well-rounded player, last season got thrown everywhere with everyone so I'm glad she has a consistent parter again. They didn't do ideally well in Manhattan Beach in the fall, started off fine but struggled a bit moving forward. They were at the 3's but I thought they would be much suited for the 4's and honestly if they are our 5's, that means good things from the pairs above. Amiatu was always a player I am looking forward to watch. She reminded me a bit of Napoleon coming out of high school. Taller and more powerful. I know her injury her senior year set her back a bit but she is going to be a great player for this program. She mainly paired with Miller and Ali in the fall and the beginning of camp but then she got put with Wagoner and I really loved this idea. I love how some schools add 1-2 indoor players and it can really change the dynamic of the pairings from the fall. There were talks at the end of last season of Wagoner moving to full-time defender for this year since we did graduate a lot of them but she is a great blocker and attacker, putting her with Amiatu may be a dark horse pairing for us. Looking at our schedule, being ranked at #9 seems about right for now. Long Beach will probably jump ahead of us but that's alright. Just have to watch out for when we play Cal Poly. There are 8 automatic bids this year which means the matches against Pac-12 at-large contenders Stanford & Cal are important. IMO I don't see TCU & LSU as highly as others, I think we are pretty even with them so those matches will be important too (we get 2 chances @ TCU and one neutral vs LSU). We competed with FSU in the fall (although like us they were missing an indoor player) but our match against them, USC, UCLA, and LMU will be a huge bonus for us if we pull out wins against them for an at-large. There is a strong chance we go 0-5 after the opening weekend, but that won't be terrible for us. Overall I predict we go 21-10 before the Big West Championships: Losses: USC (x2), UCLA, Stanford (x2), LMU, FSU, Cal, LBSU, TCU Wins: TCU, LSU, Pepperdine, GCU (x2), Cal Poly, Georgia State, UC Davis, Texas, St. Mary's + more

Opening Day Starters vs LMU 1. Santer/Embry 2. Lawrenz/Maidment 3. Glagau/Franklin 4. Wagoner/Amiatu 5. Burton/Napoleon Here is the TruVolley ratings for UH: 60 Glagau 77 Wagoner 106 Thelle 128 Santer 190 Napoleon 226 Burton 236 Hardisty 245 Lawrenz 277 Maidment 304 Miller 305 Lorenzo 392 Embry I know these ratings will correct themselves once the season is a couple of weeks old, but it looks to me like with such difficult opponents this weekend, Silberstein is trying to pull a few upsets at the 3-5's. Napoleon at the 5's and Glagau at the 3's? With such hype in the recent article, I wonder why Thelle is not in the lineup? Injury?

Second year in a row he's done some crazy lineups at the start of the season. I guess we'll see. Lose 4-1 to LMU but loss flights 1 and 5 by 2 points in the 3rd so it could have gone either way.

Are coaches still limited to moving players up/down one flight between matches?
