So if the two state solution is dead according to Netanyahu, what is the plan for Palestinians in Israel? Permanent occupation? Forced relocation? Bibi finally said out loud what we all knew was his end game. How this happens is worrisome.

Multiple states have referred the situation to the ICC for investigation of possible war crimes, but Israel is not a party to that treaty, and thus the ICC has no jurisdiction over them. (The US is also not a party to that treaty.)

This opinion piece cited an Israeli media report that Netanyahu had requested a plan to "thin" the population in Gaza so it looks like forced relocation it is www.nytimes.com/2024/01/07/opinion/israel-gaza-war.html

So Biden is either lying or he's operating in an entirely different reality than the rest of us.

Cognitive dissonance? Supporting Israel certainly appears to be a fundamental part of Biden's history and politics, and he seems to be just unable to get a handle on how badly this situation is destroying his credibility and political capital, particularly among members of his own party.
If he loses this election, his decision to back Israel is going to make for some fascinating political science case studies 20 years from now.

Biden was probably not expecting Netanyahu to publicly contradict Biden’s denial. Netanyahu is clearly undermining Biden, but Netanyahu can get away with it because he is basically a dead man walking no matter what. He is being allowed to lead in order to prosecute this war, but there’s no way he survives that process (a protracted war might temporarily help him drag out whatever political power he has, but support for his strategy is already starting to weaken inside Israel).

I don’t recall that being the order I saw those stories in my news-feeds, but either way, someone is going to have throw Bibi under the bus.

Back-tracking, miscommunication or damage control: Netanyahu told Biden in private phone call he was not foreclosing the possibility of a Palestinian state in any form Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained to President Joe Biden in a phone call Friday that the public comments he made a day earlier — in which he appeared to reject the idea of creating a Palestinian state — were not meant to foreclose that outcome in any form, a person familiar with the conversation told CNN. Biden and Netanyahu discussed the possible attributes of a future Palestinian state that would ultimately need to be negotiated, the person added, describing the conversation as “serious” and “detailed.” www.cnn.com/2024/01/19/politics/joe-biden-benjamin-netanyahu-palestinian-state/index.html

On the ground, the IDF is destroying Muslim cemeteries and eradicating physical reminders that the land has had Palestinians living there. The Israeli government representatives have said they use those grounds 'by necessity' (necessity is required by international law--yes, I know international law has no teeth) but oddly, no bombs have fallen in cemeteries with CHristian and Jewish dead or UK/US war dead from WW1 or WW2, only Muslim cemeteries. And it isn't just bombs. They've bulldozed the graves so that those interred can never be recognizable again.

Publicly. Who knows what he actually told Biden on that call but both before and after it, in public, he said no to a Palestinian state. Which is consistent with his actions for roughly ever. In a couple of days I am sure Biden will try to tell us differently again and explain that the US is not really sponsoring colonial ethnic cleansing.
