Well that didn't take very long. Returned multiple starters from a 15-1 team and voted 1st in the preseason poll. Currently 6-23 and in 8th place out of 9. Almost impressive, honestly.

King University (D2 Tennessee/Conference Carolinas) will need a head coach. Appears to be for both the men’s and women’s team. King has their volleyball jobs posted. The women's job and the men's job are posted separately. jobs.king.edu/Interesting. Wonder if he is going to pop up somewhere else, or getting out of coaching? Men’s team made a great run last season.

Heard some troubling things coming out of the program. Off court behavior, detrimental to mental health and harassment.

It makes sense, he's gotta be close to coaching a season at a school in all 50 states. Can't accomplish that by staying put for long!

I’m confused by this one. Per his bio, last year 15 wins tied the second most all time, this year 17 wins ties the highest all time win mark. And 9 conference wins sets the program record??? And I’ve had great interactions with him, know a current player that really enjoys playing for him.

Really stuck to that under 160 character mark, for a guy that’s been your head coach for almost a decade. Mountain West being savage this week!

A shame for Air Force Volleyball and their players. This post written by John Kessel says it all:
“I have competed at, coached, trained, and supported volleyball on the AFA Campus since 1973. The challenges of recruiting/competing at the Academies is not known to all – this well coached group of soon to be officers have been competing the last 2 seasons against conference and NCAA programs who have 6th year seniors due to COVID. They always compete against opponents with 5th year seniors. Air Force volleyball student athletes’ seasons are 3.5 years long (interestingly AF Football does allow 5th year seniors for their program, why not volleyball?...) They have been competing against programs more recently with transfer portal built programs and NIL athletes. You can’t transfer in a sophomore or junior or senior all their conference opponents can and do. The academic requirements to be admitted to an academy are so high, the talent pool is much smaller, as it should be for our nations military leaders, while their opponents can also select from a much wider academic pool, AND can bring in foreign players. So while the men can still only play NCVF Club volleyball, the women began a varsity program decades ago….and have not been competitive. After one coach lasted over a decade with just a handful of conference or NCAA wins each season, the program turned a corner two coached before Keith and his staff. Building on what he had learned over the years as a player and coach, then as an assistant, in the last few seasons his staff and the recruits they got to commit to the AFA have won more matches that practically the entire programs history in total. This season, they set a new record of more conference victories, after also tying the record before. They lost some great matches in 5 sets this year as well. I would guess that in Keith and his staff’s 5 seasons, they won more matches than all the other coaches in the program combined. That’s a guess but I bet it is close. So does the AD, who is not military, reward this record setting program process and development? No, he fires Keith. I wrote the above to help others know what an amazing and impressive program Coach Barnett and his players and staff have built against ever more challenging advantages for their conference and NCAA opponents. That they are not being allowed to keep building on their record setting success is…. FUBAR. The R also can stand for Rectify ….”
I wonder if there is more to this or if we will ever find out. Thank you Keith Barnett.

I can’t believe they let Keith go!
Let me get this straight.
17-12 (9-9) overall season. Best seasons in school history. Finished 8th. If the mountain west took 8 teams into the conference tourney like most conferences with 12 teams then he would’ve been in the tournament.
Air Force was the only team to beat Utah State who won the regular season championship.
He recruited and developed their programs only all american (I can’t imagine they have more than her).
Sounds like Keith left this program better. Hope he knows that.
Yah. This is a completely logical move by the Air Force. Well done.
