Interesting. I'm always a bit suspect when I see heralded beach ballers try their hand at indoor (USC tried that a few years ago, didn't go anywhere). I suppose for Indiana, depth at the pins helps, but other than perhaps for Saris, I don't see where Maple plays front row. And if she doesn't adjust well to the indoor ball and movement as a passer, this doesn't seem like a program elevating transfer.

Pretty sure the Indiana new(-ish) assistants had a connection to her through club. She'll be a bit undersized, but it's not like the Indiana pins were lighting it up defensively. Good point on adjusting to passing indoors - indoor serving has gotten so much better the past 10 years, passing has actually gotten quite a bit more demanding than on the beach - gone are the days when you send a kid to play beach to learn how to pass.

dang that’s 4 pins that they’ve brought in from the portal. Woods (listed as OH/DS), Newsome, Corral-Blagojevich, and now Beckham

Could be a DS role or something. Guessing she just makes them a better team, role TBD.

You can probably count on a similar season this year. Lots of inexperienced players and very little actual coaching going on. Syracuse just clearly doesn’t care much about volleyball.😔
