Rule 12.1.1: To allow two libero players to be designated for each set by indicating the players’ numbers on the lineup sheet for the set. Only one libero is allowed on the court at a time and is only allowed to serve in one position.

Itinerary of the team's European trip, from the perspective of the boosters (does not detail what they do in Turkey - forbidden to be with the team then!) Dang. Sounds like an amazing itinerary! In May of 2018, I was reading about how the team was headed for Europe and all these players, including incoming Fall freshmen like Sydney Petersen, were going on this cool trip. I think it was the UTVB social media.
We were bummed as we knew that this type of trip occurred every 4 years or so (NCAA allows every 4 years so it wouldn't be considered an impermissible benefit) and that we missed the window to join. I had to ask someone who was "in the know", "Hey, how come UT volleyball didn't send a note about this trip to the season ticket holders or even the Longhorn Foundation members, like me?"
Person answered, "Oh, it was announced in the Point Texas club a year ago. You didn't hear it?"
Well......I had heard about the Point Texas club, but I thought it was for donors giving $$$$, whereas I only gave $$. No, anyone giving $ is automatically a member of Point Texas.
So my wife and I joined and we knew we had to wait at least 4 years for the next window. And then COVID hit where Athletics told all teams not to travel anywhere for 2 years (the women's basketball team was in the beginnings of arranging a trip to Australia!).
Once in Point Texas, I kept pestering them, "Hey, when are you going to have a trip? Are you going to have a trip? Who do I talk to about a trip?"
And then finally last year they announced this year's trip. It's roughly $3300/person, not including air.
I'm curious if incoming Fall freshmen come along for the free trip and if outgoing Seniors (Carissa, or Bella) come along. I don't think those who have transferred and enrolled in their new school (Molly and Marina) are allowed to go. And I'll assume those playing pro (Asjia) won't be going.

from what i've seen in the past the incoming freshman do go on the trip like eggleston, gabriel did & the out going seniors are not allowed (or have not)...o'neal did not attend her freshman year because she had other plans p.s. with covid many players missed a european trip

I think if you're not enrolled, you're not permitted to go (at least as a nonpaying athlete). Since new students are generally enrolled in the summer (if they didn't enroll in January), I expect that Brennan and Rella will go too. Probably the only eligible player who won't go is Madi because she's busy with VNL... why play against the junior squad of an Italian team when you can play against Thaisa

I think about her since I know she graduated HS in May and couldn't have started summer school until June. And the trip was May 2018. Her Dad went with her and apparently he was a hoot. At that time, I didn't know Mom Bobbi had more twins back in Iowa.

The only rulles they're bound by are recruiting, tampering, and impermissible benefits. They can take any employee, coach, former player, or unrelated adult they want.

What non-invasive, non-controversial questions would you like (me) to pose to these student athletes on the trip? I may remember to jot down their responses, but if I repeat their answers, they will be anonymous.
My questions are:
1. Finger tape. Just a fun tradition that has no real use? And Bella was the only hitter who didn't tape. And Jhenna did tape. What's up with that?
2. Do you love the elimination of the double-touch?
3. You have two practice courts built inside the stadium, but do you mostly practice at Gregory?
4. When the crowd is going crazy in Gregory and you're in a timeout huddle, can you hear?
5. The team used to do some gestures or pantomime after an ace. Haven't seen that recently. Does it depend one of the girls suggesting it?
6. It used to be during timeouts many teams had their non-starters do the sprints up and down the service side of the court. Texas never did. Now there are fewer teams that do that. What do you think of that tradition or habit? Did you do it in high school?
7. What is your absolute favorite beach in Hawai'i and why? (we visit the islands once a year on our family vacation and I discovered Kailua Beach last year)
8. [For the coaches] Can you set up a series with Hawai'i?
9. Before you arrived in Austin, did you think it was in the desert, that there were oil fields , cowboys and tumble weeds nearby?
(when I hosted college kids for job interviews they thought that)
10. Before coming to Texas did you think it was weird that our mascot and who we cheer for is a cow?
Anyway, non-controversial questions as you can see.

Hey folks, in the know, can you list the type of nation teams and their importance and what being on that team implies?
For example, if I see an ex-Longhorn on the VNL team, that's a team that represents the US but in a world wide tournament? I think? Does it have a championship?
But if you're on the VNL team, that doesn't mean your on the US Olympic team (for Paris) which seems to be the final goal of all US players?
And if you're on the US22 Team, that means you're 22 and under, but that also means you aren't on the US Olympic team. You're on a team that competes against.........uhhhhh...other countries' U22 teams?
Confused.

U22 is a junior national team and yes, it competes with other countries' U22 teams. I guess it's possible for someone on the U22 team to also play in the Olympics, if they're super awesome or your country doesn't have a lot of depth. It's not going to happen for the USA team though. I think the last time the US had a college-age player good enough to put on the Olympic team was Logan Tom, and they just had her on the senior national team normally. VNL is a 7-week international tournament, IIRC it has 3 weeks of preliminary pools and then a week of finals. Countries have a 30-player roster for that, but can only bring ~14 (ish, I forget the exact number) each week of play (alternates between mens' and women's tournaments). You don't have to use the same players week to week, Karch tends to use the preliminary rounds as ways to give younger players high-level international experience and to rest the A-Team. Madi and Zoe will probably only play in the preliminary rounds, although last year Asjia played in the final rounds too. Olympic team is 12 players only, although a 13th can come to Paris as an alternate if someone is injured. If no injuries happen, that person gets nothing / no official role.

One correction. I believe it's the US21 team, not 22.
