They are not home matches, and they are CERTAINLY not part of the season ticket package. I'm sorry. I had it backward. I thought you were saying those were the home matches, because they added up to 4. Just to be clear: people were suggesting the the bump in the ticket costs I noted between yesterday and today might be because another home match, a fifth home non-conference home match had been added. So I started counting up what we knew about the non-conference schedule and what it would take to get to 'five at home'. The two Fiserv matches are obviously not part of the season ticket package, not 'home' matches. The Baylor/TCU matches are at Baylor (I think). The 'week zero' match is likely not in Madison. So that's five we know will not be in Madison. Usually the non-conference schedule has been eight matches; last year it was nine. Given all that, to get to five true home in-the-Field-House matches, we'd have to be talking about a TEN match non-conference schedule. Is that possible?

Just called the ticket office and dropped one seat, so we’re back to two seats like we started in 2020. Sorry you had to do that. It’s probably for the best. I can’t tell you how many matches I went solo for, and the times that me and my wife went (ie only for the big games), we were left with an extra ticket each time. I also hope on some level there’s a message sent to the ticket office that some ticket holders are wanting to not renew some or all of their seats the first day they could drop them. The rates of increase are getting ridiculous, and the portal + NIL landscape is not making college athletics anywhere near as much fun as they once were.

I got what you were doing backwards. A 10 match NonCon schedule would run against Sheff's OOC scheduling philosophy entirely. But he will have a pretty experienced squad, other than at setter (an unimportant position!), so maybe he has something new up his sleeve? Or maybe they are guaranteeing tickets for season ticket holders to the week 0 event, because it will be in a big enough place? Or it's for a scrimmage.

Sorry you had to do that. The rates of increase are getting ridiculous, and the portal + NIL landscape is not making college athletics anywhere near as much fun as they once were. I'm naively surprised they're doing this. It's certainly going to further change the fan base for volleyball towards rich, primarily multi-sport Badger fans, many of whom don't show up to sit in their chair backs for a considerable number of matches. You used to not only be able to buy tickets at the door, but also bring a bunch of kids, many of whom had never seen volleyball, in to see good volleyball. Now it's all points, and contributions and people you don't know every other week sitting in seats they bought online yesterday. 🙄 It's a very different experience.

The ticket mafia got me again..... Soon families with kids will not be able to attend. Sad.
Bucky's Balcony tickets appear to be going up to 1250/per seat + 100 forced "donation"... and to have privilege to go up to into Bucky's Balcony area without a seat, just day old food to consume, will be 750/pp.

$12 per ticket last year for season tickets in the Bronze section. This year $23 depending on the number of non conference games they are including. 10 scheduled home Big Ten games and how many non conference? They are allowed 32 total matches before the tourney. Not sure what to do. Down grade ? Boycott and watch at home on TV? Why do I have to buy my tickets before the schedule & dates and times are released?

So, I get my tix, including the mandatory $50 donation for each seat. Then, I get 2 emails. 1 confirming ticket purchase, and the other... thanking me for my "gift". Imagine going to somebody and threatening them to give you $50 and then when they give you the $50, you say, "Thanks for the gift." I sent a response to the "gift" email saying exactly what you're saying here, and telling them that the $100 of revenue they'll get here will be offset by my not buying some number of football or men's hockey tickets this coming year. Whether anyone will actually read the response... "Dear Chris McIntosh: You're welcome, but I really didn't have a choice. The 'suggested' donation was mandatory to buy tickets. I could have used that money towards a Semantics class at UW."

Congrats to Julia for her academic award achievements. She has been named our team captain. http://instagram.com/p/C6cRJPkPQXc She also captained the Polish U19 Women's team as well. www.cev.eu/articles/volleyball/julia-orzol-the-rising-star-of-polish-volleyball/#:~:text=Now%2C%20we%20just%20want%20to,off%20the%20court%20as%20well. I think I did mention that she would be the best candidate as the Badgers captain (although I preferred Smrek and Robinson at the time) since she leads by example. After seeing that Instagram post, I checked online and saw that she did captain the Polish U19 women's team so she already had captaincy experience. Julia shows that she can lead and gives it her all every single game (however I did observe that she was quiet at times although Izzy and MJ were the leaders). She made the move to Libero because it was the best for the team with her defensive prowess. Thing I want to see from her is for her to show assertiveness, being vocal than ever before and able to bounce back from being down. Also want to see her show authority and be proactive at any situation. I think she has the right attributes to be captain (even more so than Izzy and MJ) which can help us get over the line on close games especially deep into the NCAA tournament such as past the prelim (final four). Some other candidates who may have potential but lack something. - Sarah: Too soft and friendly when hardness and toughness is also needed. - CC: Too passive and more of a doer. - Anna: My preferred choice but doesn't seem to outspoken enough. However she may be outspoken more now that Izzy and MJ graduated and maybe a co captain alongside Julia. - Devyn: Seems to prefer to do things in the background.

Just because she wins NPOY doesn't mean she would be the best captain because captaincy requires more than just being the best player of the team such as the things I mentioned of proactiveness and such. Some players are better off without the extra responsibility and Sarah is one of them.

Given all that, to get to five true home in-the-Field-House matches, we'd have to be talking about a TEN match non-conference schedule. Is that possible? We have some solid returning experience, but not at setter and depth in the back row and OH. Squeezing in an extra non-con match might be preferable to get Charlie and the other incoming freshmen some playing experience before B1G play, even if it means playing 2 matches in a day.

Sometimes the “best” player has so much extra pressure, playing load to carry, and on/off court responsibilities, they don’t make the best captain. Sometimes they can handle it all. It takes a very mature player and team to figure out what works for the individual and the team. The right captain can exponentially improve team chemistry and team resilience. The wrong captain can destroy team dynamics and player trust. Players and coaches will know the best Badger fit!

The context was additional cost on the season ticket package might reflect an extra match and so an extra ticket: would a second match on a single day require a second ticket?

Orzol has been the obvious choice for captain for a long while now. She is experienced, and a NC winner. She plays virtually every point of every match. She has played whatever position she was asked to for the team. She exhibits incredible resilience in her play. She plays with fire all the time, and yet also with respect. She is smart, organized, driven, respected and liked.
I've never been more sure who would make the best captain. Who else would fit the bill? Charlie is way too young. Sarah is the work horse. She has other things to worry about.
