I have said it before.... Marn knows somethings we don't know. I do believe that A. Bower will be the setter just from watching some of Spring. Not sure why Damuni wasn't given more of a chance to show her skills in the Spring scrimmages. But, it does look like A. Bower will be the new setter. There is no comparison in my mind after watching them both play. But, Heather must know best. I just heard Erin L got picked up by the Las Vegas team. That was a right move for her. As far as BYU, they got some figuring out to do. But, hopefully they will come back after this break, ready to hit the pavement. I heard a bunch of them are going to Hawaii for the break. Get that sunshine and be ready girls! And here is the confirmation of Livingston's pro contract to the Vegas Thrill:

Sad for us, but really good for her.

Sad for us, but really good for her. Erin leaving BYU is a major blow. It is shocking actually. But before I get bbg to wake up from her sleep, from spring ball, and start complaining about me, I will say that Livingston has made comments about worrying about the direction of the team this year. There is a growing uncomfortable pause on what the players think about line ups in practice vs what appears to be Heather's decision making process in matches. Erin didn't want to hang around if BYU didn't field a very competitive team into the Sweet 16. So, she took the money instead of the aggravation. I think the decision to leave is a reflection of what she thinks about the prospects of getting to a high ranking this year. BTW, on a completely unrelated matter, it appears that the initial BYU season opening tourney has 3 NCAA tourney teams coming to Provo. SE Louisiana, High Point University and Fairfield. My initial reaction to BYU's non conference schedule is usually that they need to schedule harder. But I won't go there, at least with this field. It is what I call a high RPI tourney. I am not sure that any of the teams are great, but Fairfield could be tough and I wouldn't sleep on them. SE Louisiana is going to be a walk in the park for BYU as they lost lots of starters from last year's team. High Point is an unknown for me but some coaches back east told us at a club tourney last weekend that Tennessee and Va Tech got run out of the building by High Point this spring. So, a BYU/HPU match might be competitive.

Interesting....did you read comments that Livingston made or just heard? It does seem to make sense when I think about the last scrimmage and how Stowell and Damuni both stayed far behind both Bowers. I am not sure what she may be referring to as far as practice vs matches. But, matches seemed to be pretty lopsided like posted earlier with reps for setters.

Erin is very circumspect about anything she says. Of course the OH's all know who the best hitters on the team are. The coaches can't fake them out. They can lose credibility by not playing the best players though. Her closest friends and family know that she was uncomfortable with the team that BYU was putting on the floor this year. She hung around just long enough to know that the program appears to have taken a step backward from last year. It isn't a surprise to anyone that a number of players were shocked at the ending result, last fall. The team didn't progress from the beginning to the end of the season, was common thought from many on the roster. They played better in Montana than they played most of the rest of the year. Certain players on the roster are liked by Heather but not all of them. She is not a warm and fuzzy coach except in rare circumstances. She does hit it off with a certain mom in Idaho and I think all of you know that but some still won't admit it. Anyway, I hope Livingston has a good pro career! She was a walk on at BYU, just like some of the best to ever play in the program.

I’m trying to remember who got hurt when Erin was given her chance at OH? She ran with it and was the starter from then on! I wish her every success in Vegas! Only wish she was playing in SLC, because I plan on seeing a few of their games. Mary Lake, RJP, Dani Drew’s, Mary Lake, Heather Gneiting, Mary Lake ❤️❤️❤️❤️!!

It was an injury at middle that gave Livingston her chance. BYU started the season with Dodson playing OH. Then Eschenberg got a minor knee injury early in the season. Olmstead then went with Allie Hakes at MB and kept Dodson on the left side. Hakes, I think, started against UVU. Hakes, like one or two matches latter, sprained her ankle. BYU moved Dodson to her natural position at middle, and Livingston got her chance at OH (although Livingston had to play middle to finish the set Hakes got injured in).
Note, Livingston do get some time at OH before the Hakes injury. When Dodson struggled, she came in. I think this happened against UVU. Still, Dodson was getting the vast majority of the playing time at the second OH spot before injuries in the middle.

Did Hakes not come back from her mission yet? What about Callahan? I know they both went on missions right?

She’s been home about 18 months I think. She had surgery on a tumor on her shoulder. She talked to Heather about redshirting, but nothing ever came of it. She’s really happy just being a college student at BYU. And she’s in ❤️..

I'm surprised to read the claim that Erin Livington is talking negatively about the program. Is there evidence this claim is true?
