its unfortunate that the cuts arent in position to be before the PR season starts... i know some of the signings are just there to get an opportunity... but the idea of big training rosters and then a lot of cuts (like omaha) is just ick to me Yes and no. It depends on the conversations with the athletes. People like Maddie Squiers and Jazz Schmidt probably know they won't make the roster. Others are clearly former athletes who were mostly retired like Mancuso and Gabby Curry. Overall, I don't think there will be many athletes who were convinced to not sign in another league that end up getting cut. there wont be many.... i just dont like that there's any (for the non-locals anyways) and I think that could create a negative perception for those that might be wary about the league. Like Omaha is most likely going to have a really good pin cut... (unless they're only allowing one libero to be dressed... then that might be changed)... or the middles that signed to Atlanta. (the idea of trades is also something that I dont like) Obviously a lot of this depends on what is going on behind the scenes and what they were told... but based on some personal knowledge, some were misled from their signing talks to what is currently going on...

There's still time to get to Europe/Puerto Rico if you get cut in training camp no?
I'm 99% certain that several of the signees were just there to help being bodies during mini-camp and have no delusions of making the roster.
How many Liberos do they keep in Italy or Turkey? I can't even see keeping 2 on the roster. Omaha for example can keep White and use Nuneviller in emergency situations.
Yes you get paid for your time in training camp. If you don't make the roster, you can always be re-signed as a practice player.

THIS part seems like the bigger issue to me. This format can be fine IF there are also guaranteed contracts. Then you can sign some athletes get signed to a winter training contract, others sign to a guaranteed full season (or more) salary. I think this is how most American pro sports work, right?

I guess that would require seeing some language in the contracts they're signing... if thats the case, then I can't gripe about it. (with the lack of agents... I just hope the players are aware of the situations then I guess)

They could.... but end of January/Feb is getting to be late into the season and some of the leagues (minus PR) might have rules about that. If any team runs one libero.. its going to be a long season for them. (minus maybe Omaha and Columbus) Maybe I've misunderstood Spicher, but Im pretty sure practice players can only be those that were drafted or just completed eligibility.

I is not. I just dont know who they'll cut or if they'll want to use their practice player spots. Wenz is a local (and ive not watched in years or if ever lol) and Schlegel is their intl player... so that had me hesitant. Moore also played at OSU so I think they would love to have her on the court for local fans.

They're going to sign and play the best athletes. Training camp bodies might be a different story because it's easier to sign somebody local.

I think... but it wouldnt be the first time she quit a club overseas for a fake medical reason lol
