The only current player with 3 national championships Clark finished with zero national titles. There is no even remote equivalent in volleyball. Edit: to be clear, Clark's lack of titles actually makes her even more impressive from a ratings standpoint. She didn't need them to get people to watch.

There are two different questions here. Most success collegiately (both individually and as a team) is one. That would have to be one of the 4-time 1st Team AA's with multiple team championships. Probably has to be Logan Tom or Megan Hodge.
Relative popularity is the second, and would also have to be only based off an athlete's popularity at the end of their senior year in college. KWJ, Karch, and Tom are the biggest names, mostly because of Olympic success, but they weren't anywhere near as popular. The NCAA Women's Volleyball championship match had 10x less viewers than basketball, so it has to be relative. NIL era is getting Vball players to their most famous, but it still pales. Might be Asjia O'Neal because of her Texas deals, dad, #1 pick in the PVF status, and she was just on a daytime talk show, which I don't recall having previously happened.

I wanna say Harper and see what happens Well she did finish as the leading scorer for the losing side in the most watched NCAA WVB Championship game. So from that perspective there are some parallels.

Walsh over Tom in your first scenario probably.

Karch Kiraly was even bigger than Clark. 3 national championships. 2 gold indoor. 1 gold on the beach. And gold as a head coach. Named world Player of the century. She can’t touch that. This makes no sense. Clark isn’t even out of college yet. What does Karch’s post-college accomplishments have to do with anything? Did you not read the “3 national championships”? That was in college fyi. Clark had zero.

VB is much more a team sport. 1 person can’t dominate it like BB. That made me wonder...just how transferable are the athletic skills between volleyball and basketball? There were a few notable US volleyball players who also played basketball, after all. Clark did played volleyball as a kid, before later concentrating on basketball. Would she be so successful had she picked volleyball?

The only current player with 3 national championships Yep...I would say she is the front runner for NPOY coming into the season and proved she was the best during last year's tourney run. Not quite as dominant and won't have the insane stats like Clark but if you're asking who is the best in college right now...Skinner. There is no one generational like Clark is in volleyball as far as someone being head and shoulders above everyone else. It's much easier in basketball to dominate the game as an individual.

And Logan was the kill leader the only season both played together, just as Clark has always been her teams scoring leader.

But if you want snarky I knew Nebraska only scored 11 so it couldn’t be too far off😜

Misty May
And yes, a lot of her impact came after college, on the beach, but kids wanted to see her and be her and it raised the profile of the sport in a smaller but similar way.

i feel like madi’s upcoming season paired with the popularity she gained in the last half of the 2023 season might propel her somewhere close, and will definitely be in GOAT status if she wins her 4th national championship. i’m not really here to debate it i just think it could happen! madi gained like 80k followers last season

I can’t find a college volleyball player with more than Madi though…
