wow, one day of not reading VT and i come to all this keoni drama! i'm disappointed, but not really surprised. he always gave main character energy, but he couldn't really live up to it given the opportunity.
seems very thiimple-minded, if you will. however, i do wish him the best of luck wherever he lands

Keoni was hopefully informed that this is probably not the best look if you are trying to get picked up by another program... lol kids nowadays, acting like freedom of speech means zero consequences He seemed like the douchey type. He was being interviewed alongside Louis and had an arrogant tone. Louis seemed very modest. alright body language experts, dissect this one

Idk, this is all just such a mess.
Keoni couldāve quietly transferred and made himself into the player he believes he is without all this nonsense. Like others have said, itās really giving main character energy. Now he screwed himself because if he doesnāt pan out at wherever he goes, and tbh now anything other than being an All American, all conference, etc is going to be not panning out, then how much is that going to suck?
Sometimes players are just delusional and think because they āgo hardā that they deserve more than the players that are consistent and reliable. This was not a good look on his part to go putting all this out there, I really donāt see how his reputation recovers from it, especially since anyone that takes him is likely going to be on Wadeās sh*tlist.
I donāt see why he needed to be a clout goblin about this. Super unnecessary.
That being said, if Wade really was giving him the run around and making his leash shorter than everyone elseās, than thatās not a great look either, but I personally felt like Sakanoko, Thiim, and Galloway all played a relatively even amount. So I find the complaining about not having a guaranteed starting spot next odd, because he obviously didnāt have one this year and he has no idea where the other recruits will be as far as competitiveness.
From the eye test alone Roure looks better than the #1 US recruit and there are others like Todd that Iām sure are hungry as well. Every season, each player should expect to earn their spot, not have it handed to them.
I donāt see why Thiim thought he should have been treated differently just because heās been in the program. Alakai had been in the program even more collective years and it still took him until his 6th to earn regular time and even then Thiim being on the court is a reason Todd didnāt see time at the end.
Moral of the story is, just keep your head down and work towards what you want, where you want. Making a big deal makes you look delooloo

So, this has been an interesting few hours on this thread. I think Thiim learned an important lesson based on the fan response. All the behind the scenes stuff is behind the scenes for a reason. As others have mentioned, the response probably wasn't what he was expecting (not sure what he was expecting), but all the "media speak" is there for a reason. He could have put his concerns in a completely different way and it would have come out better. I do think he lands somewhere for the next season and I wish him the best.
I think the OOS guys also learned something from this. There was a lot of click bait type posts on IG that went out before the podcast was launched, so they definitely wanted fans to tune in. I know Thiim is their friend, but moderating a guest is very important. If you think he's saying something that might not be good for him, you need to steer him back and help him to clarify his response.
Finally, it pains me to see this kind of reaction from the fan base. No doubt that Thiim opened himself up to a lot of criticism from this interview. But this is a player that put in 3 years in the program. There were matches that his serve brought Hawaii back from losing. And his hitting stats near the end of the season were pretty good. We all figure that Thiim saw the fan response on here and had the video pulled. Remember that the current players/future recruits are also well aware of what is being said on here and this is a reminder that in Hawaii, they are under a microscope compared to other programs.

Very well said. Thank you for the important reminder that this is a public forum that the athletes can access at anytime. Critiquing play is one thing but attacking the person ad hominem is going in the wrong direction.

I'm so sorry. But if this came out about John Cook or Jerritt Elliot. Half of the gurlies here would jump on them so fast without blaming the SA like ya'll are doing with Thiim. š I hope that Wade is able to improve the way he communicates with the SA... this isn't the first time a SA had a problem with how he communicates.
