Thanks guys for all the feedback and compliments. I’m gonna work on some more today because now that my season is over I have more free time. Would you rather I make a Intro to pro vball video explaining the different leagues and competitions A “hot take” video where I just list some of my more spicy takes about teams/players Or a dark horse team video I think dark horse or intro to pro would be good next also, maybe this is a me thing, but you should start your videos with what you’re doing in it at the top of the video for the thumbnail, like how cooking content creators have what theyre making as the thumbnail if that makes sense was just thinking about that earlier. Need to figure out how to do it tho lol. I wish I could go back and add it on to the first 2 videos

tl;dr: TikTok is fickle and the most important thing is to be consistently good. Sometimes a video that you're sure would take off tanks at 1k views. Sometimes a last minute thing gets to 1M. From my metrics, it's roughly ~$0.75-$1.50 per 1k views, so a good video with 1M views can earn ~$1k. Are you familiar with volleyball videos? I would consider 1k for a volleyball video on an incipient channel a sterling success. While I don’t have any experience in starting my own social media channel, I do have a lot of experience in starting up new endeavors. I can say without a doubt it can be a crushing disappointment to have too high an expectation at the beginning. Sometimes simply being courageous enough to begin the journey has to be its own reward, and if you add too many metrics beyond that you’re setting yourself up for failure. To me regardless of the amount of views what madden is doing should be applauded and supported. I am so excited to see where this goes! More important than total views is consistent output, a constant desire to improve the content, passionate and enthusiastic engagement with the people who do support the channel, and an open minded curiosity about where this can go. I firmly believe we’re in a significant growth period for volleyball, and early content creators are in a position where they can possibly be financially rewarded. As an analogue I know quite a few people who got in on the burgeoning interest in high school recruiting for football and basketball in the 80s and 90s who are multi millionaires now. But that’s not the best reason to move forward with it, because that doesn’t happen for everyone. If you’re looking to consistently gather 1m views I don’t know that women’s volleyball is the best subject to pursue expert status in. I think someone like madden is better off seeing this as the pursuit of a personal passion that has its own reward, and if he can make a living wage at some point doing it - well, that’s a heck of a bonus, but not guaranteed. I get served a decent number of open gyms, that arielle coach, erik shoji, and random beach highlights. I generally agree - volleyball is becoming more popular and any increase in quality short and long form content is only bettering the sport. Also agreed that 1M on long form discussion / deep dives is hard. There’s just not going to be enough people who care. That said, I think a healthy mix of the two has legs. If madden can be a trusted and entertaining source and can deliver consistent, punchy sound bites that maximizes discoverability and follower count - more people might stay for the longer discussions that otherwise wouldn’t. Monetization wise - the most lucrative channels are still brand deals. Videos can go for $500-$2500 easily.
