That’s crazy tho. Did you need help getting out of the water? My right leg was behind me, and when I heard it pop and felt sharp pain, I kind of freaked, because I thought it was a man in a grey suit latching on. We have lots of juvenile Great Whites in the area, but they largely stay to themselves. Fell off the board and flopped up to the sand like a seal missing a flipper, then the boys and a couple of lifeguards dragged me out. Embarrassing. Good times! |

South Bay - Manhattan/Hermosa/Redondo Beaches. I was at Hermosa this morning. Scenes like this are pretty common (this one was taken further South, but it's not unusual up here either). There's only been one attack I can remember in the past 10-15 years, a smaller Great White that got hooked by a fisherman and bit a swimmer while it was trying to get away off of Manhattan Beach.  |

Condolences 😕😕 Popping up (standing up) can put stress on the tendon, particularly if you've been repeating the same motion for years. I think it was probably ready to go at any time, and it did. Surgery coming up in the next five days. My golf game is going to suffer big time. |

I've always heard that it doesn't really hurt when it happens, but you immediately look around for the idiot that kicked you really hard or hit the back of your ankle with a baseball bat, but there is nobody there. I guess it is no vaccines and straight to the sweat lodge with some peyote for you. Really sorry to hear it. |
