Just curious, to those of you that were there: what position(s) did Devyn play?

Looks like this is over? Stat line looks a bit bonkers. Did Devyn play around?

GG is having a rough passing night. Three words: Two libero system. (though I hope for her sake that she can pull it together and not need to be pulled for a passer)

Dev played opposite. Anna and Carter in the middle. All three served.

10 SAs but 20 SEs by the badgers! Whew. Carly with 8 points. Setting the team to a +0.400 HP. Sounds like she had fun.

I am not at all a good judge of setters, but there was a conversation between Carly and Sheffield at a timeout? a quick break in a set? mid-first set, and somehow the body language or hand gestures made me think Sheff was saying 'the sets don't have to be perfect; these guys have big target windows, just get it in the neighborhood, and they'll be OK' and she got better, looser, more 'adventuresome. She did well, and they scored a bunch through the middle, either on Carly dumps or mid-tempo sets to the middles. But again, it was UIC.

Three service aces by Anderson makes me think maybe she is going to see some time on the court this fall one way or another.
I went through the play by play and as far as I could tell Devyn had two hitting errors and no kills from the back row. In case it isn't obvious from previous posts, the serving order was Anderson-Franklin-Smrek-Robinson-Orzol-Booth with GG serving for Anna in set 3. I'm not sure if this indicates anything for fall - once all our first years are here, we'll almost surely be subbing out our opposite so Smrek could still end up there. I would say though that clearly Robinson is a better choice for 6-rotation opposite.
I await and hope for a good summary from someone who was there. Gleaning tidbits from the stat sheet only takes one so far.

Three service aces by Anderson makes me think maybe she is going to see some time on the court this fall one way or another. I still think Wisconsin is running a 6-2 until I'm proven wrong. It's what this group is used to, keeps Robinson and Smrek at opposite, gives Charlie less responsibility being a summer arrival freshman setter and it would let both setters serve as well which seems like that would be a positive. She can survive one season of 3 rotations before taking over in a 5-1 with a largely new group after the mass exodus of 2024 (Franklin, Robinson, Crawford, Smrek, Orzol, Anderson).

I'm glad she gets to experience such large crowds! The regular season will be an eye opener for her. I'm realizing today how much it calms me as a fan to know there is a capable veteran at that position coming into the season.

The one thought I had about GG not serving the first two sets was maybe it was serving MB tryouts: if CC isn't going to be on the floor in my 5-1 offense, who's going to be my serving middle?
