Though the late, great Mose Alison wasn't thinking about Volleytalk when he wrote "Your Mind is on Vacation," he could have been. There's an implicit rule in these lyrics, one verse of which I've quoted below, which some of us probably could benefit from:
"You're quoting figures, you're dropping names You're telling stories about the dames You're always laughin' when things ain't funny You try to sound like you're big money If talk was criminal, you'd lead a life of crime Because your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime"
(It may not apply to most of you at all; Mose added in another verse that "If you don't like the song I'm singing, just grin and bear it, All I can say is if the shoe fits wear it")

Or should I say "Well sung" or at least for nyline "well quoted. Thanks. Unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears.
