The days of Stanford contending for a title are gone with the departure of Denise and the day/age of NIL and transfer portal I don't think so, at least not for the NIL reason. The lifetime value of a Stanford degree (and especially the network effects) far outstrips anything a player could earn from NIL over 4 years in the current market. It's really not that close. |

Stanford had been winning so far, but it felt kind of shaky with the poor DS play, struggles blocking, and the non-Rubin pin situation. I'm really interested to see how they manage the ACC, esp. as there are quite a few dangerous teams. Yeah they've been winning off the backs of Miner, Oglivie, and Rubin but you really can't win with no offense from your other pins, no blocking, and DSes who can't pass or defend. Rubin is far better as a supported OH2 rather than the go-to hitter because she's not gonna take over a match the way a Skinner, Franklin, or Delaye are going to. |
