I hate to yuck their yum but this is just a waste of time and space. I could see a mid-year report of players to keep an eye on, but what’s the point of copy and pasting last years returning AAs and not adjusting for some obvious names that are leading their teams? Next we’re going to get the 18 coaches who could possibly maybe who knows idk win Coach of the year I guess.

Well like who that wasn’t an AA besides sis should be in the convo this year lol Caylen Alexander... Will she win it? no. Does she deserve to be in the conversation? Absolutely.

I just don’t love how it chips away at the credibility of the sport.

I know college football and basketball doesnt do this…Jayden Daniels won the Heisman last year and his team finished outside the top 10 Regardless of how fair or unfair, Parra is going to have to put up Bricio type numbers and a few upsets against other players in the running to have a chance if TCU isn’t going to have a Cinderella story run in the post season. That’s just how it is, and I’d start preparing yourself for that.

You won’t see me campaigning for Shaffmaster for NPoY. Unless the Final 4 is Minnesota, Miami, SMU, and Le Moyne, and Nebraska, Texas, Pitt, Stanford, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Louisville don’t make it past the regional semifinals.
I’ll say it’s pretty satisfying seeing her on this list that doesn’t matter though, and I’m doubling down on my firm opinion I declared in that thread about your team’s best player. People laughed at me and her when I said it, but she’s the Gopher MVP this year. If an Indiana player and non-Franklin Wisconsin player can make this list, I’m glad Shaffmaster did.
I’m starting my campaign for her to be at least HM AA though!

I don't remember Jordan Thompson ever being in the NPOY conversation (as more than a "she should be considered but she won't be"). IIRC she led the NCAA in kills, points, kills per set, points by set, etc in 2018 and 2019.
From her bio:
2018 led the nation in kills, points, kills per set and points per set, averaging 6.27 kills and totaling 827 ... kills per set was the highest in NCAA volleyball since the 25-point scoring format began in 2008 ... no one in the country had a higher kills per set mark since 2006 ... was the first player since 2004 to have 800 kills in a season (two did it that year, totaling 823 and 842 in the 30-point scoring format)
2019 finished career ranked seventh all-time in career kills in NCAA history ... led the nation in kills, points, kills per set and points per set ... became just the sixth player in NCAA history to record 50 kills in a match with 50 on her Senior Day against ECU, resetting her own UC and AAC single-match record ... broke her own record for kills per set in a season with 6.38
Maybe ppl talked about her some in 2019 after it was pretty clear Plummer wouldn't play enough matches to qualify but there was a lot more talk about Pressley. Not to knock either Plummer or Pressley but Thompson should have been in the conversation, even if Plummer played enough matches. In 2018 I remember a lot of talk about Plummer vs Veronica Jones Perry but not much about Thompson. Ppl thought Thompson was worthy but why talk about her when it's clear Cincinnati is not going to make the Final Four?

Didn't Cincinnati take Penn State to 5 in the regional semifinal at Maples Pavilion in 2019? We were robbed of a Plummer-Thompson regional final!

Thanks, I edited that already but I think ppl were surprised that they took Penn State to five. Maybe I'm misremembering. I would have loved to see Thompson play that Stanford team. Would have been a great match!
