Both matches are free to attend. 🎁 To celebrate National Volleyball Day, the first 150 FSU fans will receive volleyball keychains at the Wednesday match, and students receive double Spear-It Rewards points for attending. 📖 FSU leads the in-state rivalry series 40-24-1. The Seminoles are on a five match winning streak, their best streak since winning six in a row between 2012 and 2015. Dating back to 2019, only two of ten matches have resulted in a sweep. This is always an interesting series.
Florida State won both last year, and both in 2022. But Miami-FL won both in 2021 (the year they had a good shot at a top 16 seed but the committee gave it to Florida instead).
3 of the last 6 meetings have gone 5-sets.

Wednesday will be the 65th time these two teams meet, and only two previous matches were played while both teams were ranked in the Top 25 at the same time. Those two matches happened in seasons where FSU and UMiami finished #1 and #2 (respectively) in the ACC.

Will the Miami that beat Texas show up? Or will the Miami that got beat by Wright state show up? Could be a 5 set extravaganza or it could be an embarrassing sweep. Here’s hoping for a 5 set extravaganza!
Also for the Miami fans on here, isn’t this year’s team young or did I miss something?

With Hurricane Helene expected to hit Tallahassee on Thursday, the FSU campus has been evacuated through the weekend.
This game is going to be postponed/moved/canceled.

I’ll update the thread if anything changes. For now, I’m only seeing cross country and swimming events being cancelled on Friday due to Helene. Miami’s mascot is certainly fitting for a Florida team. Stay safe out there. |

Whenever I host a tournament at our school, I call it an extravaganza, not an invitational or tournament. Welcome to the XYZ HS Volleyball Extravaganza! Is that a bit much? Over the top? I just think tourney or invite is sooo boring. |

I think this one will be a sweep by FSU but hopefully not embarrassing. Have been really impressed by FSU's ball control. They don't seem to lose matches bc of poor SR. And yes Miami is young. A couple starters are RS Fresh, couple others Soph, other Soph subs...I think they have just a few seniors some of whom are reserves. |
