I thought it was random for a US team to have a kangaroo mascot so I looked it up. The choice was basically inspired by the Kansas City Zoo acquiring kangaroos in the 1930s. KANsas and KANgaroo maybe played into it a bit. Students wrote to Walt Disney asking him to draw their mascot and he did which is cool. Her name is Kasey (a play on K.C.).
