I love our players/recruits, but who of our team can consistently pass well when targeted? Nor are any of our pins coming in with passing prowess. Maybe Kahahawai, but she hasn’t been in the formation enough to see that. I think that is a need Elliott will look to fill. Seems a coachable skill, not an athletic need. Just saying...

I mean it’s been like the last 3 cycles and texas went and grabbed the #1 pin, setter, and libero in the 2026 class. Halter, Singletary, Ames, Devin, Swindle, etc. were all Texas recruits. Madi replaced Skylar and has been here three season with Akana. it’s not like we replace EVERYONE with the portal. I’m just saying no one should be surprised if texas brings in a 6ro pin when they lose their three top scorers and ALL of the passing minus Halter You’re entire starting lineup in a 5-1 is transfers besides your middle (I’m counting Ames as a transfer sorry lol), and halter (assuming Rutherford and Carlson) Yall are petty portal friendly lol well, we’re not in a 5-1 with Carlson and rutherford are we lol, and if you want to count Ames as a transfer I really don’t know what you want me to say I quite literally said that texas will likely go after a 6ro pin and That no one should be surprised. but I just don’t think it’s really a bad look to recruits considering for now, Texas is still getting the cream of the crop. in fact, you could argue the 2025 and 2026 classes (post 2021 exodus) are even better than the classes before

I wouldn’t be surprised for a 6 ro pin, but it seems like it would damage future recruiting

Bumping - the masses seem to want tea. I'm always ready for a hot cuppa'. More specifically, I would like to see some more California players coming to join The Badgers after Charlie's homecoming helps them to see the light.

National Championship quality passing is absolutely an athletic need. (And hypothetically if you can't coach it then go out and recruit it)

Recruiting Carlson over Swindle following a championship season told me he's no longer interested in developing players.

Recruiting Carlson over Swindle following a championship season told me he's no longer interested in developing players. Lol. Ridiculous. We needed a second scholarship-level setter and why the hell would you not recruit the best one you can get? Was JE supposed to go with someone worse? The Texas team is a meritocracy. Which, I assume you're in favor of. Nobody gets given a "reserved" spot to play. Ella was given plenty of chances to compete for the starting 5-1 spot and for whatever reason, Carlson has outplayed her this season. If that doesn't light a fire under Swindle to work and compete harder and improve, then I'm not sure she should be on the team. [For the record, I think she's staying and will come back stronger]

U R so FOS Swindle actually got better as the 2023 season unfolded and especially in the post-season.

Before this diverges too far. Can we get some input on who went "full SMU" this year and how that's going? Really interested to see what results are coming from that kind of strategy. I'll start. But without great examples.
Georgia and Tennessee both replaced their sets of Outside Hitters in the portal. Georgia with no success (some injuries certainly played into that), and Tennessee with medium success (a lesser year than their last couple) But that's only a couple kids.
