Ouch for GT. Is it just me, but the last two or three years, there seems to be an increase in true blowout sets (like 15 or less for the loser)in top tier match ups. I know, Stanford was ranked 10 slots higher than GT, but still, a 9 and 12 set between two ranked teams. Look what Wisc did to PSU in two sets. Or Texas to Neb in last year's final. Just a few examples, but it seems to me like it's been happening more often in the past few seasons.

Really one of the best performances I've ever seen by any Stanford team at Maples. Everything was working to near perfection: blocking, hitting, setting, floor D, serving. Maybe the passing could have been a little better and I think Harvey had a few HEs, but I'm nitpicking. Ok, GT couldn't pass, block, or cover tips, but some of that poor play was forced by Stanford's serve, Miner's excellent setting, and elite tips by Rubin, Kurt, and Harvey. Last dominant performance I can remember like this is when they hit like .700 against USC in 2022 to set a PAC-12 record Yeah, now that you mention it, I recall that beat down. I think Lanier got benched that night and Kipp hit .600. |

In the third set, roughly around 21-10, there two plays in a row where the GT coach had a discussion with the down ref, who consulted with the scorers table. Anyone know what that was about? Checking rotation, ...?

I remembered a night when Lanier got benched and USC played really bad @ Maples. I checked and found a match in 2018 where Stanford swept USC and Lanier had 9 kills and 6 errors (on 30 swings) and only hit .100. Kipp wasn't there yet so I must have mixed up the two bad matches. |

I watched this match live on ESPN+ and could not even post my live thoughts. This is one of the most lopsided matches I can personally recall between two ranked teams. Stanford is always gonna have offense but the defense was airtight. Cardinal, that was thorough and decisive.

Are they going to use the Taraflex floor again this conference season or are they going to keep using just the wooden floor that they're playing bb here too? It takes too long to change over (has to settle for a day after being put down) and there is a lot of basketball being played in Maples, so they won't use the Taraflex again until the NCAA tournament. |

what’s the purple ribbons for? Some teams have done Alzheimer's Awereness nights this season and purple is the color for that. Might be something else though? That's what it was. They had scoreboard graphics about Alzheimer's, and they were handing out crossword puzzles at the entrance (to keep your mind sharp). |

Anecdote: during warm ups one of GTs alpha fans was getting upset that he was being hit at from opposite position. I mean legit getting upset like he was being targeted. The guy next to him was upset that Rubin was tipping…very upset. 😠
