Because they only have one challenge left and they were afraid the refs would steal it as well. by this logic, she shouldn’t ever call for another one anyway then. Maybe, but would you want to be out of challenges in the first set?

I get your reasoning but this match in theory should be lopsided so having an opportunity to take the first set is really valuable and you probably want to seize the chances you get.

I think this is a reasonable take, but is a personal coaching philosophy/decision. Not sure there’s one absolutely right answer.
