She definitely jumped - those words are not in the rulebook. Wis v Minn in G5 for the reference when Shaffmaster was above the plane of the net and backrow.

The announcers for SC/Oregon were so awful. The guy referred to every serve as “knocked it in”.

I was watching a match earlier today and one of the announcers fully said it was match point at the end of set 2 in all seriousness

Some of these color commentators need to learn that sometimes less is more

There was a match where the announcer said "the ball went between her right and left arm." That's oddly specific. She could have just said that it went between her arms, and we'd already know which two she was talking about. I mean, it's not like the player had two other arms that the ball could have gone between.

Coverage is expanding and it's hard to find experienced pxb. What I can't handle is the constant chatter. We can see what happened, if you don't have anything to add, then put a sock in it! I appreciate all that Emily is doing to promote the sport, but I can't listen to her any more. I watched the entire Wis-Min match on mute.

Btw, she was front row so moot point (she served right after that point scored) I assume the original comment was regarding Shaff's dump kill at 9-6 or so in the 5th set. No, she did not serve immediately after. Grote served. And Grote being the opposite and rotating back to serve means only then is Staff rotating up to the front row. That is, when she hit the dump, she was absolutely no question about it back row.

It was important enough for OP to be heard loud and clear that it necessitated this separate thread being made

People get worked up about very unimportant things, apparently.

It is disappointing to see the number of male commentators who really don't know much about the sport and make inappropriate comments about the players. We need to get retired players commentating. When Lauren Stivrens commentated at Nebraska she did great and was able to add insight into the nature of Nebraska Volleyball.

A ton of retired players do commentate, and some of them are absolutely awful.

And if we go down to the D2 and D3 levels it is just god awful. I'm talking they sya bump, set, spike and get confused about simple calls.
