If you’re on TikTok, check out Harper’s story. She shared two posts addressing the hate she/the team has received online from last night: “PSA- all athletes still have feelings to all the children posting about our team and saying all this crazy stuff.. i'd like to see you come out here and try to do better but until then keep ur negativity to urself also i guarantee you guys do not know as much about volleyball as u think considering some of the stuff u guys r commenting” “like i'm so sick of it. imagine someone posting something like that about you, ur sister or someone you care about lets use our brains and spread positivity. i thought sports r supposed to be fun i'm embarrassed for you” I agree with her. However, for her to post something about it does make it seem like she's letting these bad fans win as it shows that it gets to her, which she did say was the reason for her depression after last year's comment during the postfinal press conference. I hope she just ignores them and not let these stupid comments get to her!

rjaege thought the “match was not all that interesting”? The upset of the year, two teams displaying incredible defense, hard hitting, in front of an electric crowd, with both school’s fan bases on hand? That wasn’t “interesting”? What do you need? The teams inside a cage, fighting to the death? No. To the pain.

I know I'll catch heat with this, but for as much as Cook makes statements about developing his own recruits and such, they really haven't done well with their 2021 HS class aside from Rodriguez: Kennedi Orr was the #1 recruit and only set for about half a season and never in a 5-1. Lindsay Krause was the #2 recruit and lost her starting spot, she has never made an All American team either. Ally Batenhorst was the #3 recruit and struggled putting balls away most of her career. She was likely getting beat out this year and transferred to USC where she is having a big season. Whitney Lauenstein was another pin recruit who transferred out Ironically, his best 2021 pin hitter (by a wide margin) is Merritt Beason who transferred in as an upperclassman. An opinion based on one recruiting class over a very successful 25 year career developing players and coaches? BTW Kennedy tore her ACL before arriving at NE and never was able to fully recover. That 2021 class has played in two national championship games, and very well may play in a third this year. In what universe is that a disappointment?

I expect there are plenty of comments with legitimate criticism, but simply based on what we see here (as well as other cess pools after the 2023 final) I'm certain there was some misbegotten hate. So sad that some people have so little goodness in them and that these fine young women have to deal with it. Ugh.

So the first, third, and fourth sets were 19-19, 20-21, and 21-21 at one point. All season long Nebraska has been in those kind of sets and pulled it out. Last night it was Penn State, in large part helped By the rec hall crowd. In a match that close (Nebraska won more points), Nebraska fans need to chill out and look forward to getting their trophy tonight. I agree with everything you say (quite well too).

The thing is while some people definitely take it too far and the obvious like out of pocket hate comments are bad they also need to see that like when you sign up to play for Nebraska that’s part of what comes with the millions of awesome perks you get for signing with a team with that much of a following in a growing sport. It’s a privilege and that’s a drawback. However, if they think they have it bad they should read some basketball or football ncaa fans…..

The teams inside a cage, fighting to the death? 1) it was in jest, although a bit of dark humor (see '3' below) 2) quote me completely and accurately. "BTW experiences may vary but I did NOT find this match all that interesting..." 3) From 4 PM til 10 PM was not a very enjoyable 6 hrs for NE fans, myself included ... PSU 3 NE 1 and IA 13 NE 10 ... ARGHH!$#@$ ...

Would they rather the alternative be nobody watch or care about them ? It comes with the popularity can’t have one without the other

After watching the excellent EP:60 special on last year’s Nebraska team, it was clear that Ms. Murray has suffered great heartbreak (losing her father when she was a child) and that she wears her heart on her sleeve. She was devastated by the National title loss, more than other players might have been, and she gets hurt more by critical comments. If I were a Nebraska fan, I’d now be showering her with lots of love right about now.
We’d be happy to do that if she came to Penn State (hint, hint). Ha!

Seems you're putting words in my mouth.
I agree it is what it is, and that they signed up for the whole deal (presumably knowingly). It just makes me sad that the hate has to be part of it. Is that so wrong?
