First time for this tournament, at the Long Beach Convention Center, smaller number of teams, well-run and easy logistics.
Division winners:
- 18s = MB Surf
- 17's = MVVC
- 16's = Team Rockstar
- 15's = MB Surf
As a spectator, this was a pleasure to attend -- parking was easy and close, you could actually hear conversations in the middle of the courts, enough spacing to move around and not get hit in the head by balls every couple minutes, not as many balls from other courts flying into play, and a pretty collegial atmosphere since so many of these teams (Socal way over-represented, obviously) know each other so well. Plus they were making decent coffee (yes, we had AM wave).
Level of play was generally very high and teams evenly matched. Honestly, the winners of each division could have been any of 3-4 teams in most divisions (other than 18's). Reffing continues to be spotty, I saw some fairly outrageous calls and even some red cards flying around after some coaches and players couldn't take it any longer...
