Shortly after the NCAA tournament announcement. They have to wait for any/all at-large bids, before they can offer invites to the team in each conference which has the best (in-conf) record, that is *not* in the NCAA championship. Then, they have to wait for responses to those invitations, before they can go down the RPI-ordered list, inviting teams which aren’t in the NCAA tournament, and have not yet been invited to the NIVC. I guess for all the conferences where they *know* there won’t be any at-large NCAA bids, they can issue invites to the best in-conference record non-AQ school.) |

The broadcaster of the Big Sky championship match seemed to imply that Northern Colorado would participate.
