On the sports front, I think this is more along the lines of the NFL saying we don't like the views or actions of one of the owners and making them sell the team. Something I thought happened in the past 20 or so years (unless it was an NBA or baseball team I'm thinking of). For those that don't read the Women's forum, someone posted over there about Alaska volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/103892/alaska-usavSince I know everyone is dying to know The reason for the potential expulsion is failure to complete a Region Organizational Advancement Standards (ROAS) deep dive audit and update its website. These items have since been completed and the USAV BOD will review the motion on July 11th.

NBA has had the Clippers and Suns sales forced by pressure of the other owners due to the former owners being terrible people which hurts the brand as a whole and can limit sponsorship deals. Same with the NFL pressuring the former Panthers and Commanders owners (although Snyder really dragged his feet on the sale). It's not similar unless the actions of the regions are messing up the money for USAV as a whole.

A better analogy is the last sale of the Dodgers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12_Los_Angeles_Dodgers_ownership_dispute) which was forced when the other owners were worried the Dodgers dysfunction would drag down their TV rights negotiations, which would in turn drag down the TV rights for every other team. Could be similar between USAV and SCVA.

Who is this Ann Davenport person and why is she singled out in the USAV letter? Seems like when you have to say thank you to one person, that person must hold some weight in this fiasco. Did she help or hurt the region?

Did she help or hurt the region? Ann Davenport was in charge of SCVA for decades (her daughter is Lyndsey Davenport the pro tennis player and her husband Wink is/was a well known VB player and VB ref). She was enormously influential in the heyday of So Cal volleyball.

She was enormously influential in the heyday of So Cal volleyball. Point of clarification... she is currently still in charge of SCVA. So I'm not sure what exactly caused this schism, but she has surely played a role in it.
