Gutfeld can be an insensitive jerk wrong more often than he is right and it can also be true that it's a smart move in terms of ratings. Gutfeld's audience is old white people and that isn't who Fallon gets. Either a LOT of old White people stayed up to watch him or you don't have a total grasp of who his audience is. It's hard to ignore the numbers. I don't watch either Gutfeld or Fallon, so maybe I'm missing something. I'm not sure how having Gutfeld on his show would inflate Fallon's numbers if only "his" audience tuned in. It seems to me that Fallon's regular viewers would tune in regardless of the guest. It also seems to me that a guest with a different viewer demographic would be a logical explanation for an increase in viewers for that particular date. I'm certainly not an expert on television ratings, but I would have to believe that if Taylor Swift appeared on Fallon's show, his viewer numbers for that date would increase, and the increase would be due to fans of Swift tuning in. |
