USC is a completely different team than they were at the start of the year. It could be argued that Haely has done his best job coaching since he was at U$C. Four (or 5 graduations) plus the late loss of Florian and Gysin before the season really put this team behind the proverbial eight-ball. They need Seelhammer to beat Stanford so I hope that she is not seriously injured. However, they did show a glimpse of what they are capable of during the tournament run. Hats off to Mick, you may not like him, but you have to respect what he has done with this group. Give most "high profile coaches" this group and schedule and they could easily go 14-12 or something.Yes, given the problems that the team ran into before the season, I agree with you that Haley had done one great heck of a job coaching this time around. He had players switching around positions -- Copenhagen from Opp to OH, Venski from Opp to OH, Bishop at MB but also primary passer and backrow player, Candelas at MB but mostly hitting from outside positions. Given that they are using 3 new passers (Copenhagen, Bishop and Dillon) besides Seilhamer, I would say that passing this year is more stable than last year (Seilhamer, Burdine, Florian/Robinson). This team could surprise (they showed that they could ride on Candelas and/or Venski) but the young players (Copenhagen, Bishop and Tennant) need to step up big in order to pull off a big upset (and I mean big upsets, as against UW or Nebraska or Penn State). If they have an additional player or two providing offensive firepowers, that would create a more open net for Candelas and Venski to power through.
