The Tampa Bay Sports Commission has put together a bid to host for 2009 as well. Tampa will be hosting the Super Bowl that year. I hear they recently got the Frozen Four for 2012. It's high time the women's volleyball Final 4 was held in the state of Florida.

Have they announced a site for 2008 yet? I know 2006 in Omaha and 2007 in Sacramento.

Although no one will be hurt, all infrastructure will be toast. It'll be interesting to see how OSU's new A.D. (who isn't loaded all the time) will handle such a bid. ;D

I know the Omaha sports commission is also putting in bids for both 2008 & 2009 to host at the Qwest center again.
It's one thing to have 16,000 seats it's an entirely different thing to get the butts in the seats

Columbus? They might as well have the tourney in Toronto. Tampa is a much more apealing locale than Columbus. Ohio has to be the most boring, mundane State in the Union, next to Wisconsin.
Ken and a pickle? Ken and a cactus is more fun.

I've heard rampant rumors all over Omaha that for some reason they(not sure who they is) thinks the NCAA is interested in making Omaha a permanent site for this. I don't ever see that happening---for lots of reasons.

I've heard rampant rumors all over Omaha that for some reason they(not sure who they is) thinks the NCAA is interested in making Omaha a permanent site for this. I don't ever see that happening---for lots of reasons. There have been numerous articles that talked about this. They think it can work for Volleyball because it works for Baseball. What they fail to realize however, is that Volleyball isn't Baseball. The NCAA created regional sites as ways to build and expand Collegiate volleyball's fan base. A permanent finals site contradicts that way of thinking.

Even though I live within walking distance of the Qwest Center I wouldn't want it to become a permanet sight for the Championships. I don't believe it will happen but I do know that is has been discussed by those in charge.
I think it should rotate between the East, Midwest and West everyyear.

I like going to different venues especially the coaching conventions in different places, look forward to getting away. As long as Nebraska is a national powerhouse in vb, I just don't see the NCAA putting the championships in Omaha. If Nebraska baseball starts winning championships at the CWS I would bet the farm(I don't have one) that the CWS would move.

In regards to Omaha potentially becoming a permanent site for the final four, it isn't just a rumour, it is a possibility. There have been discussions, and remember the Baseball World Series is in Omaha and it is an amazing event. It would be a near guarantee sellout every year.

I think most coaches would rather keep the tournament at a warm weather site. Who would want to go to Columbus in December or Omaha for that matter. However, if we could keep Nebraska out of the final four on a consistent basis, Omaha would be a great spectator place if you disregard the weather. What are the downtown surroundings like in Omaha. When was the last time thr tournament was hosted in Florida? Long Beach was a great site last year for everything except the Arena is a dump.
