San Antonio is really hoping Nebraska advances. If they don't, it may be the most poorly attended final 4 ever. Even if Nebraska doesn't advance, they've got some of, if not the best traveling fans. I recall seeing a bunch of them two years ago in Dallas and Nebraska wasn't participating. (In fact, that's where and when I met Rich. (Hi Rich!)) There will be a lot of them in San Antonio whether the team makes it or not. Of course, if the team does make it, the additional fans that will go to SA will sure help. These are pretty dismal looking attendance numbers that are being posted.

279 attendance for the Washington-Wisconsin regional final, that is bad.

They had no chance of drawing well at College Station. TAM was the only Texas team in the regional.
Any idea what the attendance numbers were at PSU tonight?

Poor attendance for the elite eight matches with the exception of Nebraska. And we wonder why volleyball doesn't receive more television coverage?
As much as I want volleyball on tv, 279 fans at a match to determine a championship bearth will not help the cause.

OK numbers given PSU was knocked out the night before. 500 less than the night before when PSU was playing.

Of course, not sure if that's tickets sold or actual attendance.

You can bet the farm that this was "tickets sold"

Even if it was "tickets sold" its still way more than at College Station which is probably also "tickets sold".

I think one of my proudest moments as a Husker fan was 2 years ago. After UCLA had knocked off the Huskers in the regional semifinal, a hugely disappointing loss, I was worried that no one would show up to watch USC and UCLA. Boy, was I wrong. I can't remember the exact attendence, but I think it was somewhere between 2500 and 3000.
I still can't believe that College Station attendance. Are there really only 200 volleyball fans there?!?

I have mentioned this too and also hold that same exact setiment. What was nice too, was that the crowd cheered and clapped for great rallies and great plays. Just 24 hours after they had their own hearts broken. What was also interesting is that NU had twice the amount of fans that USC had at their own regional final in which they were participating in the year before! I believe it was around 1200. (the attendance at USC in 2002)

COUNTING HEADS: The crowd of 14,489 for Friday’s regional semifinals more than tripled the combined attendance at the other three regional sites. Playing at home, Penn State drew just 2,530 for its match with Tennessee. At Stanford, just 1,788 turned out with Santa Clara the closest thing to a host team. And at Texas A&M, Wisconsin beat Notre Dame and Washington eliminated Purdue before a combined crowd of 414 that included the Irish band and leprechaun mascot. excerpt from Lincoln Journal Star
