From the A&M Regional site: www.aggieathletics.com/pressRelease.php?PRID=10621Post-Match Quotes WASHINGTON HEAD COACH JIM MCLAUGHLIN: Opening Statement… “It was a hot and cold match. We were a little streaky, but we were hot at real important times and kind of held onto this thing. We were fired up for this, but as I told the team in the locker room, we’ll prepare for this normally this next week and upgrade and focus on the things we need to improve, make some improvement and go play in the Final Four.” On his team’s ability to take control late in the game… “We’ve been pretty good in the later stages of most of the games we’ve played in. I think we step it up. We turn it on and we’re very aggressive in tight situations, which is a characteristic of this team. We got some good swings, and we tend to pass well at the end of the games. Courtney (Thompson) had some options.” WASHINGTON SOPHOMORE OH CHRISTAL MORRISON: On coming from behind several times in the match… “We always talk about the ebbs and flows of the game and to stay on our task and to stay level. We try not to let those ebbs and flows affect us. We just kept on doing what we wanted to do, and we got back on task and eventually got the momentum.” WASHINGTON JUNIOR S COURTNEY THOMPSON: On the Husky players around her on the court… “I sure feel like the luckiest setter in the country having our passers. They passed well all game, and they did it last night. The hitters we have – I always have a lot of options. A lot of our hitters were hitting out of rhythm and I was connecting with them, so that was great. But when we started to get it going, there is no panic. We know what we can do, and if it’s not going our way, we know eventually it will so we just have to stick to it.” On the difference between the trip to the Final Four in 2004 and this year… “It’s a lot different (this year), and one of the big things is expectations. Last year we talked so much about, ‘Lets get to the Final Four. Let’s get one step further,’ and we reached our big goal. Now we want to take it one step further. We want to win it all. We didn’t just want to get there this year.. We’re going to have a good semifinal match, but we want to be in the championship.” WISCONSIN HEAD COACH PETE WAITE: Opening Statement… "I'm really proud of the way our team competed tonight. I think we just ran into a very good team. It came down to them serving some great balls that kept us out of our offense a little bit and we weren't able to get our middles going like we would have hoped. It's been a great season for this team. We did some awesome things and beat some great teams. It's always tough to go out, but they played hard. On The Effect of Losing the First Game… "We had a shot at that first game. We gave them a string of shots at the end that really took the momentum over to the Washington side. It was tough to recover after that. They're a team that's been in this position before and they were hungry for it. If we had gotten that first game it might have been a different story. That's a tough serving team. They bring a lot of variety and hit some tough spots. The ball was moving a lot tonight." WISCONSIN SOPHOMORE S JACKIE SIMPSON: On how Wisconsin's game plan changed in the match… "We had a game plan to really attack the middles and get our middles up quick. I think that was working really well for us. They had great hitters, so it really pulled us out of our offense we like to run." WISCONSIN SENIOR OH AUBREY MEIEROTTO: On her memories of her career… "As I told my team in the locker room, this is by far the most fun I've ever had on a team since I've been here, and I've been here for five years. It's just an amazing group of girls. Everybody gets along so well. They mesh well and it was really fun. I'm very proud of what we've done, especially these past two years. I think we did a lot of things that were probably unexpected of us. I'm just proud of my teammates."

[/img]
Bik, now, now be nice. We all know you are a loser, so be nice to those who have lost (you know how it feels). Any of the Badger fans or players (for that matter) do anything to you??

Just back from Texas A&M. I was one of about 3 Husky fans there (plus about 30 family members and staff). The Husky crowd made a lot of noise in a mostly empty gym.
NCAA has to change this regional system. 279 paid attendance??? Very unfortunate. 2 nights of great volleyball and a very poor turnout. But why would you expect people in Texas to have any great interest in these 4 teams.
Would love to do San Antonio, but two trips to Texas in two weeks is a bit much.

No. But I knew ESPN2 would have the final 4 on TV. Oh, you're also a part of the 90% of the country that doesn't get ESPNU. (bastards, but at least ma taped it... now just gotta wait for the tapes to arrive.)

No. But I knew ESPN2 would have the final 4 on TV. I read ESPN2 broadcast of the semifinal matches are not live. The live broadcasts are on ESPNU.

I was hoping that the Badgers could somehow pull this one out, but Washington was just too good. The problem is that the Badgers have good to very good players at a lot of positions where the Huskies have All-Americans. It looks like the Badgers did a decent job of slowing down the potent Huskie attack, but they just couldn't score enough to win. I have to like the nine blocks again from Reineke for the third straight NCAA match; that really seems to bode well for the future. I think this shows that the Badgers were a good team this season, especially when they weren't switching setters and had their block in top form, but they were still a notch below the elite teams in the country. I hope they can narrow that gap (hopefully by the first weekend of next season, since the NACWAA usually attracts those types of teams), although the losses of Shaw and Meierotto are certainly going to be significant. Thanks to Sheila and Aubrey for all the memories and best of luck in their future endeavors. Congrats to the entire 2005 Badger team on a fine season; while I am sure they wanted to go further, another elite eight appearance and 26 wins (seven over ranked opponents) is a pretty good season. I hope that future Badger teams can maintain or even build on that standard. The fact that they finished strong this year is encouraging.

Hey right on man for going to the game, thats hardcore. I'm not saying you did this but I wish I had enough guts to ditch my family and go the Final Four in San Antonio this weekend!! I'll go see what the wife says when I tell her my plan right now. then she has no excuse for me wearing Washington purple and talking Huskies all week. Yeah its an absolute tragedy about the attendance for such top-notch volleyball. We should write the NCAA.

Great season girls......once again you finished one game farther ahead than the another certain team..... Considering the favorable draw they got, I'm not surprised. Who gets swept in a regional match anyway? I'll answer my own question....Wisconsin. ;D Bik, open mouth, insert foot. One could almost theorize that the only factor preventing the Badgers from two consecutive Final Four appearances is that they had to play the NCAA Champion in the Elite Eight. Favorable draw, my ass.
