I've said it before (and others before me) and I seem to have to say it again at the start of every season:
For a given match, please generate a separate thread for each of the following:
1. pregame comments/analysis/questions; 2. In-game play-by-play comments (and also, please lump your play-by-plays in one post, not each play per post); and 3. Post-game analysis/comments/questions. 4. Articles and press releases
Each of the above should get its own thread.
Just a suggestion guys. It makes it easier for readers who may want to just read the post-game analysis without having to find where the damn thing starts in a 20-page thread. Yes, one can find it, but I soooooo prefer the organized thread.
It would be nice if the mod(s) had the ability to easily split a thread in two; that is, it's one of the features in the admin section of this forum. Of course, one can do this manually by deleting a post, creating a new thread, and pasting the deleted post, and then repeating the deletion/paste sequence over and over again for each additional post in the old thread. But hell, the trouble...
Thank you.

This is a thread of such topical and practical significance that I had to move it to the:

I actually see a lot of merit to these ideas... I'll try to do so in the future.

My suggestion is not necessarily to curb discussion, the ol' give-and-take, and the exchange of witty repartee. No, it's not. My suggestion is merely a guide. Y'all can post whatever the hell you want but my feeling is, why the hell have 20 pages of one-liner play-by-play posts when a 10-pager will suffice. The latter is more efficient and economical and ultimately, more user-friendly for the reader. Seriously, once the match is done, the match is done and no one is going to click on page 14 of a 20-page thread just to read BIK post "Ahhh, yer mama, GatorVball!"
And, creating separate threads is consistent with netiquette: keep threads focused on one topic. To me, pregame, in-game play-by-play, postgame, and articles/press releases are all separate topics.
But, hey, y'all can do whatever you want.

I agree with the man from the Golden Triangle. But do you really think the simple minds of Volleytalk will be able to follow the FOUR POINTS? ................. For what it's worth I will do my part ... and I will stick mainly with BYU stuff, because if I muddle my simple mind with more than one team, I will be in trouble.

Ahh, I look toward the horizon and see sanity in the form of cougarize...
FOUR POINTS: 1. pregame 2. in-game 3. postgame 4. press
Not rocket science...

We should limit the amount of posts per thread, that way they don't get out of hand!...lol
Sorry Wolfie, I will lump my play-by-play together next time.

Ahh, I look toward the horizon and see sanity in the form of cougarize... FOUR POINTS: 1. pregame 2. in-game 3. postgame 4. press Not rocket science... Let's continue to keep this at the top and give it maximum exposure. Pretty easy to follow, but it's especially applicable to Hawaii fans. Ah, er, um ... did I say Hawaii? I just mean fans for teams that draw alot of attention . In all seriousness I just might follow the 1 - 4 and include PREGAME, IN-GAME, POSTGAME or PRESS at the start of all my thread titles ...

Ahh, I look toward the horizon and see sanity in the form of cougarize... FOUR POINTS: 1. pregame 2. in-game 3. postgame 4. press Not rocket science... Let's get this back up to the top again. We've already had three posts saying basically the same thing. Talk about the "Department of redundancy department."

Wolfgang, nice contribution.
I've been toying with the idea of moving Volley Talk from proboards for a while now, but the biggest issue that has arisen is that there hasn't been a method to move the posts from the past few years which are still here to the new forum.
One of the features a new forum will have is 'subject' categories. The power of grouping threads into categories is that with a new forum, one could filter the content to see by categories or keywords.
I'll be watching carefully to see how this unfolds. Unfortunately, categories are not a feature built into proboards.

Seriously, once the match is done, the match is done and no one is going to click on page 14 of a 20-page thread just to read BIK post "Ahhh, yer mama, GatorVball!" I absolutely agree. When curiosity is killing me I try to guess which page number of an eighteen page thread will have a final set score. If I want a final score I just skip to the last page...unfortunately by this time I find it just a lot easier to go to Rich Kern's site and check it out. I would also be more apt to read the play-by-play if it was all in one thread without the extra commentary...which I am myself am guilty of throwing in there. But yes...bottom line a play-by-play thread only would be very efficient.

Doesn't it make ya'll a little nervous that you are agreeing with Wolfie? It makes ME nervous that I agree with him and that he makes sense to me.

When I want to be, I'm a genius of gastronomic proportions. However, I still prefer the Off-the-Net forum because, simply put, it's more fun. And though I love volleyball, there are MANY aspects of it that just downright irritate me to no end. And so, I watch less of it. Maybe others feel the same way and maybe that's why so few people watch it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
