I thought Cayley set a good match lastnight, although I was very disappointed in how Hawaii played. They played a team that was very undersized with no one over 5-11. Their best hitter was 5-4. These type of teams should be handled very easily without trouble. Instead Fairfield was very smart in finding the corners and tipping the ball over the big blockers. Passing is Hawaii's achilles heel, and if they want to go farther in the NCAA tournament, they better work on it. So far they have been beaten by three teams in the top 10, struggled to beat Northwestern, and just overall ugly performance against Stanford, and I thought Stanford wasn't that sharp compared to UCLA last weekend. UCLA looks really good, Nana Meriweather is scary good!

Sarcasm aside, I don't know what's wrong with the passers when they get into the games. From what I've seen in practices, they don't usually do that poorly. Maybe the hitters/servers aren't giving the passers enough of a push in practice. I don't know. They just need to play like they practice. I thought Cayley did an okay job last night. She'll do even better as she gets more consistent work with the first team. Lots of potential there.

To be fair, they were playing Fairfield last night. It wasn't exactly a team that a top ten team needed to be sharp to beat. Hawaii showed just how unsharp they needed to be to win.

Cayley Thurlby? Never heard of her. From what I saw on the telly, she's an amazing athlete with polished skills. Hope to see more of this blonde Amazonian. You say her name was Cayley? Weird name.

You should pay attention more to the discussions on this board, Mr. Wolfgang. There's a poster here who seems to be absolutely obsessed with Ms. Thurlby. Always posting about her deserving to play more, etc. Quite an amusing fellow, really.

So, what's the status on this Thurlby chick? Practicing with the first team or what?
You and I know that the Wahine would not have lost that first game vs. Stanford by 10-30 score if CAT had set; more like, 23-30. Perhaps the whole tenor of the match in the second and third (and beyond) would have been different had CAT started. But we won't know. Can't rewind time and play it again.

Ya know what, if Hawaii doesn't make it to the regional and the attendance falls below 4000 it would say a lot about the dedicated fans of a truly elite program. (And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way, just to be clear.)

I doubt season tickets include the NCAA Regional matches, or do they? Sorry, you're right. I didn't read your entire comment. I thought you were referring to attendance to regular season games. I need to improve my reading comprehension. To be quite honest, I would not go to the regionals if Hawaii wasn't playing. I didn't go to the final four a few years ago because Hawaii wasn't in it and I had tickets.
