Looks like another rough start for A&M in Big 12 play with losses to Oklahoma, Missouri, and now Kansas. The bad thing is that all of those were very winnable games.

I'm sure this Aggie team will bounce back like last year! The Big 12 is just soooooo tough this year! On a whole- I think it is the most competitive league top to bottom in the country. Hmmmm- maybe thats a good post!

A&M starting their freshman setter over Kainz. According to a press release - Kainz was ill and didn't even make the trip. Courtnee Rhodes (one of two freshman setters) got the start...all 5'6" of her. The PR also mentioned there were 5 freshman on the floor at one time.

Boy, TAMU is really struggling. Their Pablo rating is highly distorted by their win over the depleted Gophers, and outside of that, there isn't a real strong resume. Without that Gopher win, they would likely be well down in the rankings.

Then by the same token, is the Gopher rating highly distorted by their loss to an otherwise low-performing team?

The natives are already getting restless in Aggieland; have been since last season.
Chances are that if Corbelli doesn't finish in the top half of this Big 12 this season, she could get the axe. Things will be magnified if Texas makes it to the Final Four, especially considering Elliott has been in Austin less years than Corbelli has been at Texas A&M.
This is how Texas A&M operates. Once it's recognized that a new coach at Texas is having more success than a coach who's been around in College Station much longer, they make a change. Athletic Bill Byrne is pretty cutthroat.
OH Chelsea Ringel of Arlington Martin and TAV 16 Asic has committed to Texas A&M for 2008, as has OH Kelsey Black of Amarillo. Will be interesting to see what happens with the coaching staff after this season.

It has been widely known that for years the recruiting process at A & M is suspect, if not very poor. How is it that A & M missed out on some of the best athletes in Texas?

Then by the same token, is the Gopher rating highly distorted by their loss to an otherwise low-performing team? This was a bad loss, regardless. As was Louisville.

It has been widely known that for years the recruiting process at A & M is suspect, if not very poor. How is it that A & M missed out on some of the best athletes in Texas? I attribute a couple of their subpar recruiting classes to the arrival of Jerritt Elliott, even though most of Texas' players aren't from in-state. Lots of talented Texas players have headed to Florida, Hawaii, UCLA, Washington, and USC as of late.

Then by the same token, is the Gopher rating highly distorted by their loss to an otherwise low-performing team? Nominally, yes (although how highly distorted is not clear; undoubtedly a couple/few positions, though - yes I am suggesting Minnesota would be Pablo top ten otherwise) OTOH, I don't think it is a stretch to think say that those matches that were without Malarci and K-Bow are not very representative of Minnesota's team, even though they are still included in Pablo. As time goes on, they will bear less weight, and so that effect will be minimized, but it's definately true.
