"Her Killer Serve?" I find that very interesting. Last year her serves were so out of control she sent several of her serves clear up towards the top of the stands nearly taking out fans. Is that what he means by Killer Serve.

Playing devil's advocate here: if you speak with a coach after a loss, they usually are not at their best -- Especially after getting thumped. It tends to accumulate, too. If the whole season has been tough, it gets harder and harder to maintain an even keel and bounce back. Well - Cal swept them last season. He didn't even seem all that upset (a la Bobby Knight). I just paid him a compliment towards one of his players and he didn't seem to want to accept it. She was getting in her serve against Cal. There were several points where Oregon had a few runs where her jump serve was keeping Cal on their toes. I haven't seen her play enough to know if her jumper is that consistent.

Djuric - "Her killer serve" Last year 59 aces 104 errors in 107 games for .55 SA/Gm
This year 32 aces 38 errors in 45 games for .71 SA/ Gm
Looks like she has improved things a great deal.

I can only comment on what I've seen, and I don't always take stats as the sole judge of an effective serve. When I saw her play in Berkeley last season, she had 2 aces and 3 errors. It wasn't so much that she got aces, but that she put so much heat/topspin on the ball that it wasn't easy to pass. Whenever she was serving, I was simply hoping that Cal would win that rally quickly so that Oregon wouldn't mount a run with her serving.

These stats don't accurately reflect that fact that many of those serves, you know the ones that aren't a SA or a SE, may be serves that are returned but not returned in a fashion that allows the team much of a chance to run a good offensive play off of the serve receive! She served LBS off the court the night that we played her....her serves were dead on that night!
