Purdue comes back from down 8 - 5 to win 15 - 10
Ugh, again.
Now they are pulling a UNI trick, of going to game 5 and falling behind quickly.
I would not have been surprised if you told me yesterday afternoon that Purdue would win 2 this weekend. However, if you would have said they won both in 5 games, I would not have been so keen on accepting it.
Dang, we can't keep living on this edge.
(BTW, Purdue was 0 - 5 in game 5 last year, is now 4 - 0 this year)

Purdue hits .171, Mich hits .174
Purdue outblocks them 14-7 (with 10 for Lynch)
Gurnell breaks loose for the Boilers with 14 kills, hitting .542, and 6 blocks.
Purdue did a good job on Katie Bruzdzinki, as she finished with 12 kills and 12 errors. Karpiak was very effective for Mich, and Lyndsey Miller had 19 kills, too.
Stesha Selsky with 27 digs for Mich - how did she get 60 assists? Was she passing to herself?
Only 10 Purdue serving errors tonight, compared to 19 last night. But then again, only 4 aces. Did they get gunshy?

What a TOUGH start to the season for Michigan. Can they recover?
Now they get the Minneapolis-Madison road trip.

Did Michigan falter enough to fall out of the AVCA poll Monday? Yes. They will get hammered for the Indiana loss.

Did Michigan falter enough to fall out of the AVCA poll Monday? Stick a fork in 'em, as far as top national rankings are concerned....they're now fighting for the middle of the Big Ten or lower. They've dug a MAJOR hole for themselves dropping their first two home matches. They still have the Gophers, Badgers, Lions and Buckeyes to play at home, and I can't see them going better than 1-3 in those four matches. Tough start yes, especially when you consider that they lost to the Hoosiers at home. They're very cushy pre season schedule might have just come home to haunt them.

Take it easy Keystone. This is a college volleyball fan just fired up about his school team. I don't think he was implying "Penn State had better watch out". Your Nittany Lions will win the big ten. How can they not with Fawcett and Hodge?

OK...proved they can win in 5 games but now the Boilers need to be consistently good for three in a row! Passing again the weakness in games lost and most of the blocks coming late after both teams had played back to back 5 game matches and looked like many tired legs and arms out there. Coach sent in fresh legs in Lisa Pierce in middle of 4th game and she added the spark needed to get the Boilers focused again. Gurnell did light up the place late but disappeared during the middle of the match. Lynch blocked well but still struggled with her hitting. Mader and Miller with off nights. Merlau had a great weekend in hitting and serving!
To sum up....no consistent play by the Boilers but enough talent to pull off 2 in the state of Michigan this weekend. Not many of the top teams in the Big Ten will shout that accomplishment this season! BIG weekend test to see just how good the Boilers are with Ohio State and Penn State coming to town!
Go Boilers!
