My hat off to BU, although I don't think NU was motivated for this game.

These stats are going to be fairly ugly. I'll bet Cook won't be real happy.

There's going to be a lot more ugly wins in conference on the road. Just hope they continue to be wins for the Huskers.

Just so you know, Baylor is in the AVCA top 38 receiving 10 votes in the last poll and 5 in this week's poll. I watched this game and Baylor out blocked NU and was about even in digs. Game 4 was close into the mid 20's as well. If you really watch that gritty Baylor team play you would say that they won game 1 because they are good not because NU played bad! BU should receive more respect from their performances this week.

The difference between UN and Texas is when they struggle to play well on the road, they win. After losing game 1 they pretty much blow them out.

First of all, no disrespect to Baylor was intended when I spoke of an "ugly" win. I was referring Nebraska's side of the court, their lack of blocking, the many unforce errors early in the match, especially the first game where Pavan & Larson were hitting .000. Obviously, Baylor's play had something to due with that, but I don't believe everything to due with it. A lot of it was Nebraska just wasn't playing up to the level that they have played at in the past. So from a Nebraska fan's standpoint, it was a little ugly. And just so you know, Nebraska was ranked #1 in a AVCA poll (which is probably too high) and when both team are playing up to there capabilities, a number 1 team should not have a lot of problem with a #38 team. Historically, there is just too much of a spread between the best team in the country and the 38th best team in the country. After a 4-game road loss to Missouri and a 4-game loss at home to the Huskers, both teams above them in the rankings - it will be interesting to see where Baylor ends up in next week's poll. I would think they should creep up a bit, but I have a hunch they won't - they may even get dropped for the "receiving votes" listing. The Big 12 Coaches Preseason Poll placed Baylor at 9th this year. If you go back to an old posting of mine from August 4 here's what I had to say about Baylor. volleytalk.proboards88.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1154551626&page=3“Baylor. I like the direction they are headed. But they lost too much to graduation last year to move up very much in the conference standing. Maybe put then around 7th or 8th. But look out for 2007 - could be a top 25 national teams and in the top 4 of the league.” With 11 volleyball teams in the conference, the 6th place teams should be around 50-50 in league play. So I'm guessing Baylor will still fall a bit short of that this year. For the Baylor fan's sake, I may I've underestimated how they do in the conference, but I don't think I have. Right now, they have played 5 of 20 conference matches (25% of their conference schedule) and they are in 7th place with a 2-3 record.
