You're proud to be sore losers and poor sports? Good on you, then. I'm not going to apologize for some kids within the student section booing a rival. Get real. I'm neither a sore loser or a poor sport.

The student section was booing the Huskers on their way out... It's freakin' college sports, get a grip. If any students were as involved in your volleyball team as they are at Mizzou, they would likely boo too, if not worse. For what it's worth, I have never seen a crowd or student section boo the opposing team after any VB match I've attended. They've booed the referees, but not the other team after the match was over. Never.

Regarding the Missouri fans booing and other such nonsense: People are people everywhere. I doubt Nebraskans are "better" people than Missourans (Missourians?). There are arseholes and pricks on every campus. The fact that the Nebraska Coliseum houses an older generation of fans cuts down on the usual student crap behavior. Hey, this is what students do. When I was at Columbia for law school (that would be Columbia University in New York, not Columbia College in Missouri), I attended a basketball game where a friend of mine mooned (hairy arse and all) the opposing team as they headed for the locker room. He also gave them the finger. This guy is now working for the U.S. Justice Department putting away bad guys. I seriously doubt Nebraska students are better behaved than Missouri students. There's a mix from every bag. Well, many people on this board hold volleyball to a different standard than men's sports. Why shouldn't a student section at a volleyball game be just as excited and absurd as they are at a football or basketball game? That's the questoin I'm sick of discussing on this board.. but I'm just annoyed with the righteousness of the people who think volleyball is "their" sport and would like for it to remain a fringe interest. I've mentioned before that I think this ideology is sexist.

Fortunately for us, you can mention your ideas hundreds of times and we we still, IOHO, know we are right.
Booing is so third grade here-comes-the-stereotyped-slimy-bad-king-in-a-Disney-movie. Some love the sport, others love exercising the lingering vestiges of clan mentality bred into their hunter-gatherer ancestors.

You think Na Yang and Lei Wang come from the States? Everybody knows Tiger assistants Chen Feng and Deng Yang built a pipeline to China for the Kreklows. Actually, the Kreklows started that pipeline while they were at Columbia College where Chen Feng and Deng Yang both played years ago. Without Feng and Yang, there would be no Chinese Pipeline. The Kreklows are only along for the ride.

I attended Columbia undergrad. I can't imagine any Columbia basketball game that would've been good enough to want to moon an opposing team. Sports were pretty much an afterthought there. I went to all the volleyball games, and d*mn they were bad. Regarding the Missouri fans booing and other such nonsense: People are people everywhere. Fortunately though, you're always right... no matter what textbook anthropological rhetoric you might spew.

In fact if we had people who were behaving that way our own fans would put a stop to it. Nebraska students may not feel like behaving nicely but they wouldn't have a choice if they wanted to watch the game. Thanks for sharing the story about your hairy butted friend now working for the justice department. That gives me such a peace of mind.

I was at the match and Cook instigated much of the booing. He yelled at the students and they yelled back and booed then. Not a very classy man, nor a very classy program in my opinion. Had a lot of respect for Nebraska volleyball before tonight, but not as much anymore.

Yeah, well it's not like the NU team did anything wrong, but Cook just rubs me the wrong way I guess. Also their fans really embellish the so-called rude atmosphere at the Hearnes Center. I personally think that it is a real shame that the MU Athletic Department moved the courtside seats back.

Dave Shoji of Hawaii is one of the more entertaining coaches re. talking back to unruly fans. He's quite humorous actually.
