Yes, lets award someone who has great numbers against weak teams. Great job AVCA! What you seem to be saying is give the recognition to someone whose team played against a strong team. My guess is that nobody stood out and/or played stellar against a strong team during the week in question. Guess what? The AVCA selection committee consequently says Houston deserves the recognition. She worked very hard for it. Don't take it away from her. If the passing/serving is decent, she will have great numbers game after game, regardless if the team is Texas, Nevada or Nebraska. AND she will be a shoo-in for AA honors. Yes, that's how good an outside hitter she is. It is not scandalous to give her national recognition at least for the week. She deserves it! ;D

Over the past 2 seasons, the AVCA has been giving NPOW awards to players on non-top teams such as:
Nov. 7, 2005 - Jamie Baumstark - Southeast Missouri State University Oct. 31, 2005 - Kelly-Anne Billingy - Marshall University Sept. 19, 2005 - Josi Lima - University of Kansas Sept. 6, 2005 - Ashley Adams - Middle Tennessee State University
I guess cbrown1709 may have been wishing that Kristin Richards gets the pick when she showed up for the match against Cal after weeks of being playing lethargic.

geez, how about a simple congratulations for a job well done. For one, I doubt Jaime Houston gets on here and reads for me to congratulate. Other than that, I this the decision on this one was off. Great, she finally hit over .300 for 2 matches. But how about she do that over a top 15 team, and then i will sing her praises. Nothing against her, but seriously. Everybody is a critic, who would you pick? on second, thought forget it! it doesn't matter who you'd pick.

Without a neutral mechanism like AVCA selection committee, the award would go to Stanford players only if Rusty socotum had his way. By the way, cbrown, your response to him was hilarious by itself-
