Actually when I think back to the match, I don't think its the secret to beating them ... It's just a coincidence. It seems like when somebody else set the ball, there were still good hits; however, they were just dug. Bot for any fault of UW, just because Seilhammer dug so many darn balls! The other thing I did notice is that the libero often set if Courtney dug, and she set overhand, meaning she would set behind the 10 foot line. Not a bad thing, but she would often set the outside a 10, which Morrison could hit, but it lessened her approach. But it wasn't bad, that's the thing. I watched it a couple times, and I was like hmm, those were actually good sets and hit. Interesting. Weird... Thompson had 15 digs, but only 2 assists didn't come from her hands. Has UW struggled this season with putting away balls where the second contact is a non-setter? I haven't seen enough of their matches to know. But a 2 for 15 ratio doesn't seem very good. Maybe that's the secret to beating UW! Hit every ball to Thompson because they likely won't put it away on that rally

Caricco is a very good setter with a nasty attack, but, is it just me, or are most of her attacks "throws"?

Well, the matches I've seen, she's taking a full swing at the ball. I didn't see anything close to a throw.

I would say the full swings were legit, but there were a couple of off speed shots to the back corners that could easily have been called. Speaking of calls, Mick was pretty hot about 3-4 controversial ref decisions.
It was fun to see Carico in person for the first time. She has a really great repertiore of shots, which causes the block to pay her extra attention. It seemed like USC did not have the speed to capitalize on that.

Mick upset with some calls? Stop the presses!
I'll never understand why there's a different definition of a lift for balls played on your side of the net compared to those played over the net to the other side. I mean, where is the team _really_ gaining an advantage?

Yes, Carico is my favorite player to watch on the floor. She is a freshman but yet her plays have been pretty good so far. I really like her athleticism and she does have a pretty good hanging time with her blocking as well. Her "310" slams are fun to watch. The best kills from her that I have seen though were in the match against Purdue when she, in the backrow rotation, dumped the balls at the net, catching everyone by surprise. It'll be fun to watch her grow and get better in the next few season. Even Dillon's dad admitted that Carico will be a great setter by the time she's done at USC.
