I wondered the same thing. Scott is USA's most solid and experienced player. Odd that she didn't get one point.
Happy to see the US win the match. They will have to play much better if they want to compete with the likes of Brazil, China and Russia. Good to see that Bown is continuing her good play from the Grand Prix. Crawford only scored 7 points in a 5 set match, and she played all 5 sets! It just goes to show how badly we need another leftside hitter (Tom).

It looks like Lang Ping went with Sarah Drury as libero.

We definitely need another terminating OH.. I think that once Oganna gets healthy, the US should be fine. I dont really see any outside hitters in college ball that can contribute at this time, so for now its Tay and Ogonna. I dont think the answer is Logan Tom either as her heart is set to play beach next summer, i assume that she would want to qualify for the olympics with possibly Elaine Youngs. Go USA !!! LOl

This is a down period in american talent produced from NCAA. Don't worry, there's a lot more talent in the pipeline right now. USA will medal in WC 2010 and 2012 Olympics.

in what Scott blogs as officially her worst match ever, she says that she just could not connect with Robyn in this match, could not make the adjustments.
IMO, it's just one of those matches. look for Dani to step things up as they go along.

If you go to stats sheets (posted on page 1 of this thread) you will find out that T Crawford was part of team US reception scheme together with Drury and Haneef (N Davis subbing in by the end of each set). She is leading the team by digs btw. If you replace her with Oganna you will have to rearrange the whole lineup.

Good points made all around here. The US needs some bangers that can terminate the ball against good teams.

Interesting to see that Lang Ping has switched Nicole Davis and Sarah Drury. Last year, Davis was the libero while Drury subbed in for one of the outsides at the end of each set. In my opinion, both are very good.
