I've been to Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. But not Turkey. I always felt safe. Turkey has been a popular destination among Jews (don't ask me why). One coworker (who is Jewish like me) said Turkey is a great alternative for Jews who want to see the Middle East but are afraid of visiting the "real" Middle East. Plus, they get great travel bargains. The place I felt the most unsafe was in a bad neighborhood in Barcelona. It was in the area of the Picasso museum. My wife and I sort of got lost and entered a place roaming with men w/ evil eyes. A local barbershop shopkeeper pulled us into her shop and alerted us to the dangers lurking behind street corners and dumpsters. She advised us to go back to the main avenue. "That way," she pointed. We walked in that direction, very briskly I should add. I was told in some areas of Puerto Rico that if you are walking down the street and there's no one in front of you--turn around and go back..
