Brandon Sisk, a 6-3 sophomore setter for 14th-ranked Lewis University (15-11, 10-3 MIVA), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Sisk led the Flyers to their seventh win in eight matches, including a victory over conference-leading and 11th-ranked Ball State University. He opened the week with 38 assists (12.67 per game) in a sweep of Quincy. He added three blocks, two kills and two digs while guiding Lewis to a .402 team hitting percentage. In the 3-1 win over BSU, Sisk tallied 49 assists (12.25 per game), six digs and six blocks, adding five kills with no errors on six attempts. He averaged 12.43 assists, 1.29 blocks, 1.14 digs and 1.00 kill per game, while hitting .875 for the week. Lewis University has now won six straight MIVA matches and is coached by Dave Deuser.

This should really quiet those people who were really ragging on this kid earlier in the season. Congratulations!
I still can't figure out however, why Matty hasn't been national pow (I am in no way suggesting that he should have been pow this week ... just wanted to make myself clear) yet.

I was kind of rooting for Matt Bender to be player of the week this week.
I'll try to dig up his stats... he was unstoppable vs. #2 LBSU!
25 kills in 5 games hitting 0.250 6 blocks game II 27 kills in 5 games hitting 0.457 5 blocks 2 aces game I
For the weekend:
5.2 kpg; 1.1 bpg; 2 aces and hit 0.347%
Not so shabby.

(not saying sisk didn't deserve it) maybe he'll get mpsf player of the week.

Sisk deserves it. He played awesome against Ball state and actually looked very much like a setter. He's going to be good, he just needed some time and he needed to learn how to have fun. He had some very big shoes to fill and he's coming around. He's a nice kid too.

He ... actually looked very much like a setter. Well that is encouraging considering the position he is supposed to be playing. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I thought Bender would be up for it as well. Player stats have to be submitted by their coaching staff to even be considered. Maybe they want to distribute it across the country. Congratulations to Sisk. This was a big win for Lewis. I really think they will be in the Final Four. Just a hunch.

my post disappeared about Sisk>>>hmmmm. and it was a positive one.......haha Sisk was fantastic against Ball state. He actually looked like a setter that knew what he was doing. He was very confident and was "gellin" well with Fabby and Solar. He had a few nice kills too. He's been working hard this year and has had some of the biggest shoes in the NCAA to fill. Congrats to Brandon.....but he needs to shave ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) )

Well, I saw this kid play at UCLA. From what I understand, he has been playing with a serious injury to his thumb the entire season. Thats not a good injury for a setter to have. I'd really be interested to see him setting and playing when he is 100%. He is obviously gutting it out and doing a nice job for Lewis, because I see that Lewis is still in the hunt for the MIVA regular season and considering what they have been through this year, thats amazing. But I have always had way more respect for Lewis than any of the other MIVA teams. LEWIS plays a much tougher schedule and always has a much more respectible team than the others in the MIVA. Lewis may not go undefeated in the MIVA every year, but I know that the West coast guys recognize Lewis as the TOP and dominate Midwest team every year. This Sisk kid is the kind of tough competitors that Lewis always puts on the court, AND their coach seems to know how to motivate and get the most from his team every year.
GOOD FOR HIM, CONGRATS!

Oh its true. Just ask any of the MPSF players which Midwest team they respect at all. Many will say "none" but most will say LEWIS and NONE will say Ball State.

I don't believe that and I doubt that anyone else on this board does either.
Prove it to me ... do a poll for the MPSF and former MPSF players on this board to respond which team they respect the most and/or least.
