Maybe this was the promise made to MH to get her to PSU? Does this happen? She mentioned in an article that she _specifically_ chose PSU because they develop all-around players. By the way, I would caution about reading too much into body language. It's a mistake we all make with athletes -- and coaches (not to mention people in general). I said nothing about body language. I just think it's an odd way to stand when you are in serve receive.

When Hodge was in serve receive did she stand there with her hand on her hip like she did when they played in Minnesota? I am glad someone else has noticed this. I know different athletes have different methods of preparing for a play, but her body position/language appears lazy. Here's the post, fwiw.

Yes, I read the post. stberry50 referred to body language; not me.

That's sort of what I was wondering, too, Ruffda. With Penn State's all-hitting/all-the-time approach, maybe she figured she wouldn't have to worry about passing there as much as she would have if she'd come to Minnesota, for instance (although MN played so badly the weekend she visited that I imagine that factored into her decision, too, as well as the consistent regular-season excellence of PSU).

And the lack of the scholarship at Minnesota at the time.

They had a scholarship, didn't they? I thought that's why they didn't sign another 2006 -- it was too late by the time Hodge decided?

Hartmann 5. Jackson 6. Jones 7. Nelson 8. Peniata 9. Roerhrig 10. Schmidt 11. Vatterrodt 12. Florian - at that time
