By the way, I still think 90% of the people in the Pavilion, including the line judges sometimes, don't know what the outer line is on this court.
Unless I don't know. (It's the inner maroon line.) It IS confusing.

My Alma Mater (Illinois) got a SportCourt back when they were sharing Huff Gym with WBB. Though it does hide basketball (and transverse volleyball practice-court) lines, it is like a giant jigsaw puzzle that takes time to set up and tear down. That isn't free anywhere... in a shared facility where set up and tear down are covered by a union contract, it could get quite expensive.

Yes, WI needs a new floor. I've never cared for the Pavilion, although the court is fine. You lose something when the endline seating is so limited. I always liked Williams... I'd like to see somebody serve a skyball at the Pavilion. It'd be an interesting change of pace. The problem I have with Williams and the endline seating is that the basketball stanchions get in the way. Plus, with the raised floor I feel like I am further away from the action. So much depends on where you sit there. Maybe we can convince one of the Gophers to serve a skyball this weekend. I would do it during sand ball. Very effective!

It IS confusing. It is my understanding that there had to be some type of contrast between the endline and the solid maroon area. This is probably why Florida has the white line. I would rather see a white line up against the maroon area instead of the small wooden gap.

Yes, that is why. I just don't think people know which line is which.

I cannot stand courts that are just basketball courts with lines to delineate the volleyball playing portion. Nothing irks me more than that. And so many schools do this(and some of them with a lot of money), it's so pathetic. Spend the money to get your team a volleyball specific court if they share a facility. quote] I was watching UCLA the other day when they played Cal or Stanford (saw both but can't remember the specific court). Way too many lines on that court. Including some that are fairly close together.

Might have been UCLA at Cal last Friday. The problem with that one was that there was also an experimental 3 pt line for basketball laid down. The regular lines are done in standard white vinyl tape. Santa Clara uses a silver colored tape. Try Spartan Gym at San Jose State before they put in a new floor with new lines. There were lines everywhere, and it didn't help that the 40+ year-old wood was getting really dark. I think the main volleyball lines were dark green, but there were some parallel lines in black maybe 6 inches from the back lines.

All volleyball courts look like crap to me. Sorry, still bitter about Klineman's decision. Bye.

R .. are we talking just about The appearance of the floor? or the whole experience... Hawaii..hands down... For comfort of seating..and the .. WEATHER. Louisville has a nice floor... and of course the place they sent the Gophers EAST a couple of years ago was THE WORSE, high school gyms are better. For ease of parking ..Northern Iowa. worse...Stanford. Minnesota would rate if we had seats bigger than NW airlines.

Oklahoma's arena is volleyball only, it is pretty decent and seats about 4000. Whoever thinks Mizzou is a nice arena is crazy... that facility can hold about 15000, regardless to say there's never a sold out at that place, besides their sports court isn't that great and balls are too hard

Pic of Florida's court, they changed it for this season. This is what it used to look like: This is what it looks like now That court looks really really nice. It's like the actual court sits on a sea of blue. You can't take your eyes off of it.

I enjoy pictures, so I was glad to see that some people included shots of the courts they were talking about (even if I'd seen or been to that particular court before) in their posts. Personally, I'd just like to see a lot more pictures of volleyball courts in this thread, but that could simply be the mood I'm in right now!
